England will begin their latest quest to land a first piece of international silverware since 1966 as outright favourites to win Euro 2024, though Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions have a tricky trio of challenges to overcome in Group C before that happens.
Competing for qualification with England in Group C are 2020 semi-finalists Denmark and two robust Balkan outfits, namely Serbia and Slovenia, giving Group C a deceptively formidable look ahead of this summer’s tournament in Germany.

Euro 2024 Group C winners prediction & group forecast
Group Winners – England
England have moved ever closer to ending their achingly long wait for international honours under Gareth Southgate, following up a run to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals by taking Italy the distance in Euro 2020's Wembley showdown.
Their quarter-final elimination to France at ‘Qatar 2022' was a step back next to those runs, but after a few near misses, the time to deliver is now.
While the hype train behind the Three Lions has often been hurtling forward at unrealistic speeds, expectations for Euro 2024 are suitably lofty for the star-studded English squad. That's mainly because England qualified for Euro 2024 unbeaten from a tough group ahead of Italy and Ukraine, netting an impressive 22 times in eight assignments.
In Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Harry Kane, England have performers with valid claims to be listed among the best players at this summer’s tournament, while Southgate is spoiled for choice in most positions in general.
A strong start against Serbia on June 16th would set England up for a comfortable passage to the knockout rounds.

Runners Up – Denmark
Denmark fought against England in the semi-finals of the last European Championship, taking the lead before forcing the Three Lions into extra time. Coach Kasper Hjulmand's men eventually bowed out 2-1, giving them a real appetite to improve in 2024.
The now 52-year-old coach remains in situ, giving Denmark a sense of continuity that would be envied by any national setup. Impressively, Hjulmand currently has a 63% win rate in the Denmark hot seat, and there's no shortage of emerging talent to sustain that, with the likes of Rasmus Hojlund bursting onto the international scene since the last Euros.
Denmark is 1/3 favourite to qualify from Group C, and it’s easy to see why the markets have backed them so strongly.

Third Place – Serbia
Serbia finished second behind Hungary in Euro 2024 qualifying after winning only 50% of their eight qualification fixtures. Regardless, Dragan Stojković’s Eagles will arrive at the tournament ready to compete.
The Serbians last played at the European Championship in 2000 as Serbia & Montenegro, so 2024 will be something of a trailblazing year for the nation. For that reason, securing a place in the top two ahead of England or Denmark could be a big ask.
Serbia finished winless and bottom of their group when they exited the last World Cup at the first time of asking in Qatar, and with a largely unchanged squad, they could find the going tough again in Germany.

Eliminated – Slovenia
Slovenia matched Denmark stride-for-stride in their qualification group and collected the same number of points as their chief antagonists in the section (22). However, that qualification group was notably weak, with very beatable sides in Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland and San Marino making up the rest of the field.
Having reached the European Championship for the first time in 24 years, participation alone will be seen as a major success for Slovenia. They’ve never made it past the group stage of any tournament they’ve qualified for previously, and with little star quality in their ranks beyond Atletico keeper Jan Oblak and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, a similar outcome looks probable.

Group C Winners – Potential Round of 16 opponents
England are expected to take command of Group C, and if the Three Lions can live up to their billing, then they will be rewarded with a Round of 16 date in Gelsenkirchen against one of three possible opponents—a third-place finisher from group D, E, or F.
If all of the results at Euro 2024 go according to the world rankings, England could be paired with either Austria, Romania or Turkey in the Round of 16 at the Arena AufSchalke on June 30.
If the competition continues to develop according to ranking and form, a high-profile rematch with defending champions Italy could be in the pipeline in Dusseldorf on Saturday, July 6.
