Euro 2024 Quarter Final Fixtures and Scenarios
Match 1: Spain vs Germany
Kickoff Time: Friday, July 5th, 17:00 UK, 18:00 CET
Venue: Stuttgart Arena, Stuttgart
TV: ITV
Referee: Anthony Taylor (England)
Spain vs Germany prediction
These two teams have arguably been the most impressive of the tournament so far, and this could have easily been the final match-up if not for how the draw worked out.
Spain have played their possession-based style well, but are also deadly on the counter-attack with the pace of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams out wide, while the hosts Germany have had the home crowd fully behind them at every game that they have played so far, and have also been thrilling to watch.
Nonetheless, we can see these two going the full distance in this game, with a score draw in normal time. With very little between them in terms of quality, it could be decided by a penalty shootout, and with the nerves with that coupled up with the pressure of the crowd, we can see Spain just edging out Germany overall.
Match 2: Portugal vs France
Kickoff Time: Friday, July 5th, 20:00 UK, 21:00 CET
Venue: Volksparkstadion Hamburg, Hamburg
TV: BBC
Referee: Michael Oliver (England)
Portugal vs France prediction
Another heavyweight clash comes later on Friday as Portugal and France play out a repeat of the Euro 2016 final. Portugal came out on top, but since then, France have lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy in 2018, and also got to the 2022 World Cup final.
It is safe to say that both teams have been somewhat underwhelming considering the quality that they possess in their respective squads, and this could end up being a tight, cagey affair as a result with both sides more afraid to lose than grab the bull by the horns.
As such, we think that another draw could be on the cards in normal time, with Portugal perhaps running out of steam having been taken all the way to penalties by Slovenia in the round of 16, and so France could use all of the experience that they have collected in recent major tournaments to progress.
Match 3: England vs Switzerland
Kickoff Time: Saturday, July 6th, 17:00 UK, 18:00 CET
Venue: Dusseldorf Arena, Dusseldorf
TV: BBC
Referee: TBC
England vs Switzerland prediction
England have been very disappointing in terms of their performances at the tournament, but have still managed to dig deep and find a way through the quality in their squad. On the other hand, Switzerland are not blessed with world-class superstars, but play well as a team, and have already knocked out traditional heavyweights Italy and taken a point off of hosts Germany in the group stage.
However, despite the fact that we think the Swiss will cause England a lot of problems, we feel that this could be a step too far for them. The Three Lions will be buoyed by their miraculous comeback against Slovakia in the round of 16, and will just edge out Switzerland here.
Match 4: Netherlands vs Turkey
Kickoff Time: Saturday, July 6th, 20:00 UK, 21:00 CET
Venue: Olympiastadion Berlin, Berlin
TV: ITV
Referee: TBC
Netherlands vs Turkey prediction
The Netherlands will feel more confident going into this game having put a largely underwhelming group stage, where they scraped through in third place, behind them with a professional 3-0 win over Romania in the round of 16. Turkey are a lot of people's dark horses in the tournament, and with a large Turkish population cheering on the team in Germany, they are fully capable of producing another upset.
However, given the momentum that the Netherlands have gained, we expect them to overcome Turkey here and advance to the semi finals. That is not to say that the Turks will not go out without a fight however, and we could see them take the Netherlands into extra time and potentially penalties.
