European golden boot odds for Euro 2024

The European golden boot odds for Euro 2024 are shaping up nicely ahead of the start of the tournament in Germany.

There will be plenty of superstars on show eyeing up the prestigious accolade. Kylian Mbappe, for one, will want to build momentum before joining his next club. What better way than to become the second French player in three Euro stagings (after Antoine Griezmann) to win the golden boot?

England's Harry Kane will be in the mix too, as he aims to follow up a Bundesliga debut season ‘Kicker-Torjägerkanone' with England's first Euro top scorer award since Alan Shearer took it 28 years ago.

And of course, who can forget Portugal's evergreen wizard Cristiano Ronaldo? He's been a joint-top scorer twice before, and will look to end what is surely his last Euros appearance with the outright highest tally.

Kane still searching for first trophy

Kane left Tottenham Hotspur last summer in an attempt to win some major silverware, and Bayern Munich seemingly looked like a perfect destination for him. They had not had a trophyless season in over a decade, until this season.

The exceptional Bayer Leverkusen beat them to the Bundesliga title, while Real Madrid knocked them out of the UCL at the semi-final stage. Meanwhile, Bayern were shockingly beaten by third-tier Saarbrucken in the DfB-Pokal.

Kane did all he could individually, recording his best-ever scoring campaign of 44 goals in just 45 games over all competitions, while also making a further 12 assists. The England captain will now be hoping to lead his country to glory at the Euros, and finally ending his long, much-publicised personal quest to lift a major trophy.

Mbappe says “au revoir” to PSG

Mbappe has recently confirmed that he is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, after seven years in the French capital. He has made over 300 appearances for them in total, scoring over 250 goals and supplying over 100 assists.

The 25-year-old has won 14 trophies at PSG, but the one that eluded him was the UEFA Champions League (UCL). He did not announce which club he would be joining in the summer, but it is believed to be Real Madrid – a club set to be only the sixth in world football to hit a century of trophies.

They are the record holders of the UCL, and after reaching yet another final this campaign, Mbappe can expect to win Europe's most coveted trophy with Los Blancos.

European golden boot odds for Euro 2024 – Current outrights

Kylian Mbappe (France) – 11/2 favourite

Given those impressive numbers, it is not a huge surprise to see Mbappe as favourite to win the Euro 2024 golden boot. He is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, and has already shown what he is capable of at major tournaments with France.

Indeed, Mbappe helped France win the FIFA World Cup in 2018, scoring twice in the final, and he went one better in 2022 by netting a hat-trick. Unfortunately though, it was not enough to see Les Bleus lift the trophy again.

Nonetheless, France will be one of the favourites to reach another major tournament final, and we can be sure that Mbappe will more than have something to do with such a run.

Harry Kane (England) – 6/1

Kane will certainly be close on Mbappe's coattails for the golden boot, considering the goalscoring prowess he has shown once again this season.

After reaching the Euro 2020 final three years ago, England will be one of the favourites to go all the way this time, and Kane will spearhead an exciting frontline. He was top scorer in the 2018 World Cup, so already has the experience of winning the golden boot with the Three Lions.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) – 12/1

Though an outsider to the front two on account of his age, and the ‘step down' from Europe's top-five leagues at club level, Ronaldo is no stranger to goals even at 39. Most players would have chosen to retire from international football long before now, but ‘CR7' has the unique drive to push on no matter how old he is.

Playing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has scored an impressive 56 goals in 60 appearances, and has also contributed 14 assists. He won the Euros with Portugal in 2016, famously coming off injured in the final and urging his team on from the touchline. And with superstars like Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes alongside him, there is every chance Portugal could go all the way again.

Top scorer odds for debuting players – our picks

In this section, we've picked out three more players to watch, all of which have yet to experience the thrill of the Euro finals. Assuming they are selected for the squad, our picks are:

Goncalo Ramos (Portugal) – 33/1

Ramos will be playing at his first Euros with Portugal, should he be named in the squad. The 22-year-old boasts eight goals in 11 senior caps, and scored a hat-trick at the 2022 World Cup. Whether he would start alongside Ronaldo is another question, but the PSG striker is certainly deadly in front of goal.

Rasmus Hojlund (Denmark) – 33/1

It is safe to say that Hojlund has struggled in a Manchester United shirt in his debut season at Old Trafford, but he is a different beast for Denmark. The 21-year-old has scored seven goals in 12 senior caps, and should the Danes be able to navigate a group which includes one of the pre-tournament favourites in England, Hojlund could be a dark horse for the golden boot.

Niclas Fullkrug (Germany) – 40/1

Better late than never! After a standout season with Werder Bremen, the 31-year-old striker was bought by Borussia Dortmund last summer, and he has been key in getting them to their first UCL final since 2013. At international level, Fullkrug has 11 goals in 15 senior caps for Germany.
