Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior appeals to Chelsea. An interest that is hardly surprising given the two clubs have shared the same owner for several years.

Appointed Strasbourg manager in July 2024, Liam Rosenior is doing an excellent job on the touchline of the Alsace club. After a first season that finished in seventh place in Ligue 1, securing Europa Conference League qualification, the English manager currently has RCSA sitting in fourth position after 12 matches, behind Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and Racing Club de Lens.

The Alsace club's highly offensive game plan, embodied by Argentine striker Joaquin Panichelli, Ligue 1's top scorer, is attracting attention across the Channel. According to information from the Chelsea Chronicle, Chelsea view the English manager as the worthy successor to Enzo Maresca, at least when the latter is no longer on the bench. Liam Rosenior's arrival would be logical as Strasbourg and Chelsea share the same owner, BlueCo.

Chelsea eye long-term succession plan

“They would like Rosenior to be the next Chelsea manager”

Whilst an arrival at Stamford Bridge would mark a major new step in the former Hull City manager's career, the London capital club initially envisage him on the bench of a second-tier English side. “There are a lot of jobs in the Championship, and that is not really a concern for BlueCo, but Chelsea, I think in an ideal world, they would like Rosenior to be the next Chelsea manager,” journalist Graeme Bailey reveals.

Chelsea want to wait before installing Liam Rosenior. “Not for three or four years… I think within the club, they are discussing the possibility of allowing him to go to Fulham or Bournemouth if those jobs become available. Then, it is a natural progression to Chelsea anyway, so basically, there will be more and more jobs coming up. So yes, it is an interesting question for them.”

Liam Rosenior's contract runs until June 2028 with Strasbourg, with whom he has secured 28 victories in 54 matches across all competitions, representing a 50% success rate in Ligue 1.
