Real Madrid winger Rodrygo was strongly linked with a departure from the club in the summer, but ultimately remained at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, given the minimal increase in playing time under manager Xabi Alonso, his future remains under a big question mark.
In the summer, Manchester City and Arsenal reportedly pursued him, but neither club submitted a serious offer. Now, however, Chelsea have entered the game, who according to reports have initiated talks with Los Blancos about a potential Rodrygo transfer. Indykaila claims that Chelsea are willing to complete the transfer either in the January transfer window or in the summer.
Brazilian sources confirm player's dissatisfaction at club
A few hours later, ESPN Brasil confirmed part of this story, stating that Rodrygo is now willing to leave Real Madrid. Whilst not mentioning Chelsea, they note that if he commits to a transfer, he prefers a move to the Premier League. The change from the summer is that the Brazilian player is increasingly dissatisfied with his role under Alonso and feels he is not getting a fair share of playing time.

Earlier in the season, reports emerged that Rodrygo had asked for a chance to compete with Vinicius Junior for a place on the left side of Real Madrid's attack, instead of operating on the right wing where he has played in recent seasons. Although Rodrygo has featured most often in this position, his use is very sporadic.
Reduced minutes under Alonso
So far this season, Rodrygo has played just 359 minutes in 13 matches with a record of two assists. He has only started three times, with only one of these matches seeing him play more than 63 minutes. The vast majority of his appearances consist of approximately 20-minute substitute appearances.
The 24-year-old player's value according to Transfermarkt is €80m (£70m). He has a contract at the club until 2028. He joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 for €45m (£38.5m).
