In addition to defence, PSG could also strengthen midfield during the winter transfer window. The French capital club have several options, including a Chelsea recruit who is struggling.

Between injuries and poor form, Paris appear to be working to recruit in defence in January 2026. Besides certain profiles targeted for next summer – Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich), Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool), Eric Garcia (FC Barcelona) – the French side are thinking of five options for the winter transfer window, including Tylel Tati (FC Nantes) in the centre or Pedro Porro (Tottenham) on the right.

But PSG are also considering moves to strengthen their midfield.

Three midfielders considered by PSG

As reported on X by specialist account PSG Inside-Actus, PSG, who wish to be “very active” this winter, have several players in mind. Already Ayyoub Bouaddi (LOSC), followed by Paris as well as a dozen heavyweights – Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal or Juventus. But also Manu Kone (AS Roma), for whom an offer of €60m (£51m) could be sent, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The X account particularly specifies that Brazilian Andrey Santos is being followed by Paris Saint-Germain. Brilliant on loan with RC Strasbourg, particularly last season – 11 goals and six assists in 38 encounters – the 21-year-old player is not a starter with the Blues – 12 appearances, six starts. Manchester United are notably ready to pounce on this opportunity, whilst the player can indeed be perceived as a Chelsea recruit, having played his first minutes with the British outfit this season.

Andrey Santos case looks complex for PSG

But, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke from Football Insider, Chelsea have no intention of parting with Andrey Santos, this winter or next summer. The Blues even refused “a colossal offer” from Saudi Arabia in October. Under contract until June 2030, the player in question is valued at €35m (£30m) by Transfermarkt.

PSG, to bring depth to their midfield, could force Chelsea's hand with an attractive offer. But it is difficult to know whether the English club will be more receptive to Luis Campos than to Saudi Arabia. That is not the trend.
