An indispensable player for Chelsea, Marc Cucurella is considered one of the priority targets of a European heavyweight ahead of the summer transfer window at the end of the season. An offer of €40m (£5m) is reportedly even in preparation.

Marc Cucurella's beginnings at Chelsea were particularly complicated. Obviously, the context was not ideal at the time. But the situation has changed since and, following his strong Euro with Spain in 2024, the left-back is coming off a very good season. At the start of the 2025-26 campaign, the 27-year-old player is establishing himself even more as one of the Blues' mainstays.

Marc Cucurella's combative profile appeals to numerous clubs, such as Atletico Madrid. According to information from outlet Fichajes, the Colchoneros are reportedly preparing an offer of €40m (£35m) for the next summer transfer window. Diego Simeone is reportedly attracted by the playing style of the former Brighton player, who is asserting himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

Marc Cucurella, future sensation of 2026 market?

Problem: even though Chelsea have other options in their left corridor with Levi Colwill and Jorrel Hato, the English giants have absolutely no reason to sell Marc Cucurella. Particularly because the Spanish player is in very good form and his contract only expires in June 2028. There is no rush for the Blues and unless there is a much more substantial offer, a departure for the player trained at La Masia and valued at €45m (£38.5m) by specialist site Transfermarkt seems unthinkable next summer.

For their part, within their squad, Atletico Madrid have three full-backs in the left corridor: Javi Galan, Matteo Ruggeri and finally David Hancko. And for the moment, no player is giving real satisfaction to El Cholo. The Colchoneros therefore want to secure a world-class full-back and Marc Cucurella clearly ticks all the boxes. But he is too indispensable for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca.
