Authenticity (4/5): Penalty clause revealed for Sancho
Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho from Manchester United in a loan deal with an obligation to buy the 24-year-old at the end of the season. However, now it has emerged that the Blues have an option to opt against turning the loan into a permanent deal.
That is according to The Athletic, who are one of the most reliable sources in England.
Value (3/5): Sancho to cost either way
Chelsea have the option to sign Sancho for a fee in the region of £24million and they can send him back to United by paying a £5million fee. Either way, the England international is going to impact Chelsea's books and their decision might strongly depend on how he ends his campaign at Stamford Bridge.
Suitability (3.5/5): Still the best option on the left flank
Apart from Sancho, Enzo Maresca currently has Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk at his disposal for the left flank. However, both Nkunku and Mudryk have arguably performed worse than Sancho, who has been directly involved in eight goals in all competitions. His ability to win fouls in the final third has also helped Maresca's side in many games.
Upgrade? (3/5): Could be moved for a new signing
At this point, Sancho's place in Maresca's squad seemingly remains safe but the arrival of a new left-winger could push him down the pecking order. In that case, an exit from Chelsea would be best for all parties involved.
Logic (3/5): Another United spell a non-starter
As far as Sancho is concerned, he has suggested he wants to continue at Chelsea. Any return to Old Trafford is likely to be brief as the Red Devils would likely do their best to find a new destination for him, as he isn't part of Ruben Amorim's plans.
Whisper+ verdict: 16.5/25
Chelsea might have an option to not sign Sancho but it's tough to see them spend money to push out the Englishman who is far from their worst attacker.
