Potential Ruben Amorim Man Utd salary: Here’s what Sporting boss could earn at Old Trafford

In this article, we cover the potential Ruben Amorim Man Utd salary as the Sporting CP manager is expected to replace the departed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, starting the day as little as 1/5 in the odds markets to do so.

According to Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Manchester United are prepared to pay Amorim a salary of between £6-7m per year should he join as their new head coach, which would be a significant increase on his reported £2.15m-per-year salary at Sporting.

However, talkSPORT note that West Ham United were prepared to offer Amorim a salary of £7m per year to take over from David Moyes in the summer, before they hired Julen Lopetegui instead. They add that Amorim is likely to demand even more than that, should he decide to take the Man Utd job.

Potential Ruben Amorim Man Utd salary: How does he compare to other top coaches?

Carlo Ancelotti is arguably in the biggest managerial job in world football as head coach of Real Madrid, and is currently one of the highest paid soccer coaches in the world. His annual salary is a reported £9.6m, but only ranks fifth in the list, with other managers being paid substantially more.

As such, while Amorim should be expected to pick up a healthy salary should he become the new Man Utd boss – perhaps more than £7m per year as currently being mooted – it will probably not reach the same kind of figures as Ancelotti and others. The Red Devils are simply not at the same level as they were under Sir Alex Ferguson, and so this is more of a rebuilding job at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, Amorim would still be paid fairly handsomely compared to some other top coaches. For example, new England manager Thomas Tuchel will only earn £5m per year after recently taking the Three Lions job, while former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will ‘only’ pocket a reported £2.5m per year at his new role at Red Bull.

Meanwhile, Amorim will likely earn more than treble his current wage at Sporting, which highlights just how big the Man Utd job is.
