Odds to lift the FA Cup: Tottenham now amongst favourites to go all the way

The FA Cup Fourth Round draw is set to be made later this evening with only two Premier League sides having been knocked out at the time of writing, and those are Arsenal and Burnley at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool respectively with both sides now amongst the favourites to go all the way.

So, there have been no giant killings involving Premier League sides right now, and that means the draw tonight is going to likely place more top-flight opposition against each other, making the route to the final more pleasing for some smaller sides.

Odds to lift the FA Cup – The favourites

Manchester City (11/4)

As is the case for pretty much every competition that Manchester City enter, they are seen as the outright favourites to go all the way and lift the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola's men are the current holders having beaten rivals Manchester United 2-1 last season, but did go three seasons without even making the final before that victory.

When Man City were drawn at home to Huddersfield Town, most people across England would have been able to guess what the outcome would be. The current holders of this historic competition romped home to a comfortable 5-0 victory and even got to re-introduce Kevin de Bruyne into the first team which makes them even more dangerous in all competitions.

Liverpool (11/2)

After being handed the toughest tie of the round playing away to Arsenal, Liverpool have shot up from fifth favourites to go all the way, to now being just behind Man City to eventually lift the FA Cup in May.

The Reds were able to ride out an Arsenal storm which saw them squander several chances before then hitting them with two sucker punches late in the second half to record a very impressive 2-0 win without Mohammed Salah or Wataru Endo.

Chelsea (8/1)

Chelsea have been stuttering in the Premier League this season and when they went in 0-0 at home to Preston North End, fans will have been thinking the worst. However, Mauricio Pochettino has kept up his impressive cup record as Chelsea boss and recorded a very nice 4-0 victory.

The Blues' odds to lift the FA Cup have remained the same as before the Third Round draw was made but with Arsenal now out of the competition they have indeed moved up to third favourites, but this could change if Manchester United advance past Wigan Athletic.

Tottenham Hotspur (10/1)

Tottenham Hotspur were not even in the top five favourites for the FA Cup before they drew Burnley at home but a wonder goal from Pedro Porro saw them edge past the Clarets and are one of the scarier teams left in the competition.

With no European football, Ange Postecoglou will see this as a perfect opportunity to win his first trophy in England Spurs' first piece of silverware since 2008 when they won the league cup. If Spurs are handed an easy draw in the next round, they could soon start to believe this is their year for glory.

Manchester United (10/1)

Manchester United are the final game in the FA Cup Third Round as they travel to Wigan Athletic, knwong that millions will be tuning in to watch them in a potential banana skin of a game.

If they avoid defeat in this ground then Erik ten Hag could well put a lot of focus into the FA Cup as their only avenue for success this season. They have been dumped out of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup and look off the pace in the league, so this competition could be their best way to bring joy into a lifeless campaign.
