Manchester United have reportedly rejected approaches from Premier League and Serie A clubs for defender Harry Maguire, who has also attracted interest from teams in Ligue 1.
According to Mail Sport, Monaco and Marseille are both monitoring the 32-year-old, whose contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in 2026. The Ligue 1 duo are said to be joined by Fenerbahce, now coached by Jose Mourinho, as well as Galatasaray and Besiktas, who could offer the centre-back a new challenge in Turkey.
Why Manchester United are holding firm on Harry Maguire’s future
Maguire joined the Red Devils from Leicester City in 2019 for a then-world record fee for a defender, worth around £73m. Although he initially captained the side and played a central role in defence, the England international has endured a turbulent spell in recent seasons.
Despite a drop in form and playing time, Maguire has maintained his desire to remain at the club, reportedly keen to finish his career in Manchester. However, with less than a year remaining on his contract from next summer, a departure in 2026 – or even sooner – cannot be ruled out.
It is believed that Manchester United have rebuffed several enquiries from clubs in England and Italy, opting instead to keep Maguire as part of the squad going into the 2025-26 campaign.

The level of interest from Ligue 1 could increase pressure on the Red Devils to make a decision about the defender’s long-term future. Monaco, who recently signed Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati, are reportedly looking to further strengthen their squad with experienced Premier League profiles.
Marseille are also active in the market and could rival the Principality club in the event that Maguire becomes available. Both French sides are said to be considering a free transfer in 2026, though competition from Turkish clubs is expected to be fierce.
With 64 international caps for England, Maguire remains a seasoned option for any top-tier side. Whether he stays at Old Trafford or moves abroad, his situation is one to watch in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
