Leicester new signings: Confirmed ins and outs for summer 2025

Leicester City had a 2024/25 Premier League season to forget, and as a result, the team got relegated to the Sky Bet Championship. However, the Foxes will undoubtedly do their very best to climb right back up, as they have done previously, but this time without club legend Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes have made a big change this summer, sacking Ruud van Nistelrooy and bringing Marti Cifuentes to steer them in their quest for a quick return to the top flight.

Also, Leicester side are having to navigate the English second tier without the talismanic Vardy, who concluded his time at the King Power Stadium after a remarkable 13-year journey with the Foxes, where he bagged 200 goals in 500 appearances.

Make sure to check out what we have prepared for you, as this is where you will get the full scoop on the key data regarding Leicester's confirmed ins and outs in the summer of 2025. Who knows, maybe there is something to these Leicester transfer rumours.

Leicester City confirmed signings for summer 2025

It was a relatively quiet summer for the Foxes, who only brought in one player on a permanent deal, Asmir Begovic. The club are reportedly in trouble regarding PSR, so they were always unlikely to splash the cash. That being said, we have also seen them bring ina few players on loan, so here's a closer look at all of these transfers:

Asmir Begovic (Everton)

The experienced goalkeeper spent the last season at Everton, but he failed to notch a single appearance for the Merseyside club, so it wasn't a huge surprise when he became a free agent this summer.

Given the departures of Mads Hermansen, Daniel Iversen, and Danny Ward, Leicester City needed a backup goalkeeper and Begovic, who is reaching the end of his career since he's 38 years old, certainly has the capacity to do a decent job if he needs to step in for the first-choice goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

Aaron Ramsey (Burnley)

The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Burnley in 2023 on a five-year deal, but he only notched 15 appearances for the team since then. One of the reasons for this was a serious injury he suffered in February 2024, which didn't help his struggles to break into the team fully.

With that in mind, Burnley were ready to let Ramsey go on a loan this season to gain more experience and Leicester, who are vying for promotion to the Premier League, seem like a perfect team for Ramsey to get that valuable playing time.

Jordan James (Rennes)

Another young midfielder who comes to Leicester on loan is Jordan James, the 21-year-old Welsh international. James did play in 23 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes last season, although he only notched 14 starts and the French team feels that a stint in the Championship could give him more playing time.

Julian Carranza (Feyenoord)

The Argentine forward is a bit more experienced than the other two loanees that the Foxes brought to the club this summer, as he is already 25 years old.

Carranza signed for Feyenoord last summer, but with just four goals last season, he is on the fringe of the team, and a loan to Leicester could help him improve his case for more playing time at the Dutch club.

Leicester City confirmed departures for summer 2025

The following players have left the King Power Stadium this summer.

  • Mads Hermansen (West Ham, £18m)
  • Kasey McAteer (Ipswich, £12m)
  • James Justin (Leeds, £8m)
  • Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas, £8.3m)
  • Conor Coady (Wrexham, £2m)
  • Jamie Vardy (Cremonese, free)
  • Daniel Iversen (Preston North End, free)
  • Brad Young (Bristol Rovers, free)
  • Danny Ward (Wrexham, free)
  • Will Alves (Huddersfield, loan)
  • Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart, loan)
  • Woyo Coulibaly (Sassuolo, loan)

This transfer window wasn't that great for Leicester since they sad goodbye to their legend Jamie Vardy, along with a few useful players like Wilfred Ndidi, Kasey McAteer, James Justin, and some of their goalkeepers. Also, after a long summer saga, they also let Bilal El Khannouss go to Stuttgart, albeit only on a season-long loan.

The Foxes are in a bad financial situation, which is why they had to sell a few first-team players and why their only signing was a free transfer of a goalkeeper who's closer to retirement than playing competitive football at this level.

All in all, Leicester City still have a good team, at least for the Championship, but their ambitions of getting back into the Premier League don't seem to be as realistic as they were before the transfer window started.
