Manchester United are planning a major transformation of their midfield in the coming months with major departures and XXL-value targets.

As announced in recent weeks, Manchester United's main priority is to strengthen their midfield in the 2026 transfer window. But TeamTalk informs us that the Red Devils actually have the ambition to completely transform their midfield over the coming months.

The English giants are prepared to make significant investments to rejuvenate and improve this area of play with a long-term objective. Inevitably, departures are expected to implement this drastic change of strategy. Thus, according to the same source, Casemiro should be the first casualty with his astronomical salary and his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes shown the door?

As surprising as it may seem and despite being the club's best player in recent seasons, Bruno Fernandes could also pay the price. The English giants know they will need to replace the 31-year-old player within the next two or three years. They are therefore considering selling the Portuguese in the coming months, in the event of a lucrative offer, the amount of which has not been disclosed.

These departures of players in their thirties from midfield should allow the Red Devils to focus on promising midfielders. According to TeamTalk, “Manchester United want to sign a trio of Premier League players for £250m with Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Elliott Anderson.

Baleba, Anderson and Wharton targeted by Manchester United

The Cameroonian midfielder, who is considered a priority target, already wants to join Old Trafford. The English side appreciate his profile as a very active midfielder and want to build on the 21-year-old player for their future. However, Brighton have no intention of selling him for less than £100m.

Regarding Adam Wharton, he is also a 21-year-old defensive midfielder. The Crystal Palace player is a wish of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Also tracked by Real Madrid, the Englishman is valued at around £70m by the Eagles, who could even revise their demands upwards if Wharton continues to impress.

The trio is therefore completed by Elliott Anderson, who would be the more offensive and creative touch to this dream midfield for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old central midfielder or attacking midfielder notably masters set pieces and has all the makings of Bruno Fernandes' successor with his fine technical range. Manchester United should, however, be forced to part with £80m to convince Nottingham Forest in this case.
