Searching for a new midfielder to fill their midfield, Manchester United will need to pay a substantial amount for one of their priorities in the next summer transfer window.

Manchester United will make the arrival of at least one box-to-box midfielder their priority for summer 2026. In midfield, Ruben Amorim's Red Devils must already prepare for a deep renewal in an area of play that could be marked by the departures of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and also Manuel Ugarte.

Among the cases activated by the English directors, Carlos Baleba wants to join Manchester United. But the Cameroon international from Brighton and Hove Albion, who came through LOSC, is not the only profile being considered by Manchester United. Another Premier League player appeals to the Old Trafford-based club: Elliott Anderson.

Manchester United in competition with Newcastle

Under contract until June 2029 with Nottingham Forest, the English midfielder is one of the mainstays of the side now managed by Sean Dyche. Having started 11 times in the first 11 Premier League matchdays, the 23-year-old player stands out despite his team's nightmarish season, 19th in the table and having obtained just two successes in 11 matches to the point of having their third manager of the season after Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

The England international has completed 83.4 percent of his passes and occupies 10th place in the ranking of English championship players who have attempted the most tackles since the start of the 2025-26 season (29). Highly appreciated for his aggression, Elliott Anderson attracts interest from Manchester United and also Newcastle. Two suitors who will need to pay a substantial amount to secure his services.

Elliott Anderson will not be sold in January

According to information from The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest will demand approximately £100m for the Whitley Bay native, called up by Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel for the two 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia (2-0) and Albania (2-0) and who can believe in his chances of playing in the World Cup in a few months.

Very active during the last summer transfer window in both directions, Nottingham Forest do not intend to part with Elliott Anderson as early as January. The Reds want to finish this campaign alongside him with the assurance of recovering a substantial amount in summer 2026. A potential relegation to the Championship and the significant list of his suitors will facilitate a sale.
