Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Alphonso Davies, the lightning-quick Bayern Munich left-back — and the Red Devils could yet get their man.
Before the defender signed his contract extension in February 2025, an almost endless saga had surrounded the future of the 25-year-old left-back. Long monitored by Real Madrid, he ultimately chose to extend his deal with the current Bundesliga leaders until June 2030.
Now earning a considerable fortune — £17m per year including bonuses — Alphonso Davies could well be on the move at the end of the current season.
A possible sale, with United lying in wait
As reported by Christian Falk on CaughtOffside, Manchester United are tracking the Canadian international, with the journalist suggesting a departure is a realistic possibility.
Falk stated: “It is TRUE: Manchester United are interested in Alphonso Davies. They were at the table when the question was whether he was going to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich. They're still monitoring this player, but he's, of course, since signed a new contract at the Allianz Arena, so it will be difficult to get him at the moment.

But there are also discussions within the club about whether they need a new replacement player, given all the injuries Davies keeps picking up. If there was an offer on the table — and don't forget Bayern spent a lot of money to extend Davies's contract — it would be up for discussion.
But I can tell you right now there has been no concrete offer from Manchester United yet. If there is one, Bayern might look at it because the injuries keep coming.”
Davies's injury problem
Currently sidelined with a hamstring strain, Davies has made just 13 appearances this season. Since signing his extension in February 2025, the Canadian has picked up five separate injuries, missing a total of 288 days — with his current lay-off yet to be resolved. An extraordinary record for a player earning such a significant salary.
Manchester United appear well-placed to capitalise in the next transfer window — and they may not be the only club to do so. With four years remaining on his contract, Davies is valued at £38m by Transfermarkt, though given his injury fragility, a fee slightly below that figure looks realistic.
