Football Whispers' Predictions for Liverpool vs Norwich

Fresh on the back of a League Cup final victory, Liverpool return to cup against on Wednesday when they play host to Norwich in the 5th round of the FA Cup. Liverpool are the big favourites to win but are likely to rotate their starting eleven from the team that defeated Chelsea on Sunday. Norwich have nothing to lose as their full attention is on Premier League survival and that could just take any pressure off the visitor's shoulders.

Liverpool to Win-to-Nil

Liverpool have won each of their last six games against Norwich and have managed to keep three clean sheets in their last four games against the Canaries. The hosts have also managed to keep clean sheets in five of their last six matches in all competitions, all of which have ended in a victory of one form or another. Norwich have lost each of their last three matches and have failed to score in two of those defeats.

Diogo Jota to Score

Jota is back from injury but only came on from the bench in the League Cup final. We're expecting the Portuguese frontman to play some part in the Norwich game, possibly even in the starting eleven and have such backed Jota to score on Wednesday night. Jota has been in great form for Liverpool this season and heads into Wednesday's match with 5-goals in his last seven appearances for the Reds in all competitions.

Liverpool vs Norwich: Stats, Markets & Odds

Liverpool expected to win with ease at Anfield

Liverpool and Chelsea cancelled each other out for the most part in Sunday's League Cup final. The opening 90-minutes were tight and tense with Liverpool having a goal disallowed but Chelsea having the better of the chances overall. In the end, the pair went through extra time level and the final had to be settled by a penalty shootout. Every single player from each team stepped up to score their spot-kicks and it was left to the goalkeepers to decide the fate of the trophy. Kelleher converted his penalty and the pressure was on Kepa to do the same but the Spaniard blazed the ball over the bar and Liverpool claimed the League Cup.

Liverpool Predicted lineup – Alisson, Matip, Konaté, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Fabinho, Keïta, Salah, Mané & Jota

Norwich were left disappointed by their overall performance away at Southampton. The home side scored a goal in each half to claim all 3pts but the Canaries should have done more with their chances. Norwich sit bottom of the table as things stand and nobody is expecting them to go any further in the FA Cup this season, so Smith's men can play without any pressure at Anfield.

Norwich Predicted lineup – Gunn, Hanley, Gibson, Aarons, Williams, McLean, Rashica, Normann, Gilmour, Pukki & Sargent

Team News

Liverpool: Roberto Firmino is the only doubt for Liverpool having missed the League Cup final at the weekend.

Norwich: Sorensen, Idah and Omobamidele could all miss the trip to Anfield this week.
