In great difficulty since the start of the season, Mohamed Salah could lose his place this winter. Liverpool have a list of five wingers to succeed the Egyptian star as early as the next transfer window.
For the first time since June 2020, Mohamed Salah remained on the bench for the entirety of a Premier League match, during Sunday's victory over West Ham (0-2). Last season's best player in the English league, the Egyptian winger has been unrecognisable since the start of the 2025-26 campaign, mirroring Liverpool. The Reds are considering recruiting a world-class player during the winter transfer window to begin his succession.
From 15th December, Mohamed Salah will be unavailable to Liverpool, as he is involved in AFCON in Morocco, where he dreams of winning a title with the Egypt national team. If he reaches the final, he will only return in mid-January. This is therefore the ideal opportunity for the English club to find him a replacement. According to information from Caught Offside, Antoine
is the Reds' priority, but should that fail, four other profiles are being studied.

Antoine Semenyo, Salah's designated successor?
The British outlet assures that the Bournemouth player is Liverpool's number one choice but Manchester City are also planning to make a move this winter. If this transfer does not materialise, the Reds could look at other players. Kenan Yildiz (Juventus), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Iliman Ndiaye (Everton) and finally Rodrygo (Real Madrid) are also on the English giants' shortlist. For the first three names, a mid-season departure can be ruled out.
For his part, Rodrygo is not necessarily non-transferable but there is no indication that Real Madrid will want to begin the process of his succession mid-season. Liverpool are therefore placing everything on Antoine Semenyo, who could leave for a fee of £65m and who will not be present at AFCON as Ghana did not qualify for the competition.
