It is no secret that Mohamed Salah's time at Anfield is drawing to a close. After a disappointing season on the pitch and a well-documented falling out with Arne Slot, the Liverpool icon is expected to leave in the summer window, and a major Italian club has now entered the race: Juventus.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Juventus have been monitoring Salah's situation for some time and have identified the Egyptian as a target for the next transfer window. The appeal goes beyond the forward's qualities alone: Luciano Spalletti has identified the need for a leading attacking figure to complement Kenan Yildiz.

A deal with Liverpool should not prove a major obstacle, despite Salah's contract running until June 2027. Should the player be open to the move, Juventus would not need to spend a significant fee to land him at the Allianz Stadium.

Champions League uncertainty could complicate the deal

However, one significant sticking point could be Juventus's uncertain Champions League status. The Turin club sit sixth in Serie A, level on points with fifth-placed Como on 68, and two behind Roma and AC Milan, who currently occupy the final European qualification spots.

While those rivals face more favourable final-day fixtures, Juventus face the Derby della Mole against Torino. That game is said to be one of the main reasons Bernardo Silva has been hesitant about a move to Turin, and the same concern could yet apply to Salah.

Salah could become another Juventus free agent coup

Juventus have built a reputation for exploiting the transfer market through opportunity rather than outlay — targeting players approaching the end of their contracts or available at reduced fees — and that strategy appears to be firmly in play again for 2026-27.

Beyond the possible Salah deal, Juventus are also in talks over a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and are attempting to convince Bernardo Silva and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom are out of contract at Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.

It is not realistic to expect Juventus to sign all three attacking players at once, even without transfer fees, given the salary demands involved — all of which would exceed the average wages paid in Serie A.

In many ways, Salah could be seen as a middle ground between the profiles of Bernardo Silva and Lewandowski, delivering sufficient goals to lead the attacking line while occupying wide areas that a playmaking midfielder like Bernardo would also frequently operate in.

Looking back over the past two decades, Alisson and Salah would represent two more examples of Juventus's well-practised talent for identifying top-level players with expiring contracts. Names such as Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez, Daniel Alves and Adrien Rabiot all arrived via the same route in their time.
