Barcelona are planning at least two major signings for Hansi Flick this summer, with Alessandro Bastoni and Julian Alvarez remaining the primary targets. However, the club must also urgently address the search for a replacement for Marcus Rashford.
The England international may not be remaining at Spotify Camp Nou on a permanent basis. While the Catalans would welcome his continued presence, they are reported to be considering only a further loan arrangement, an option Manchester United have categorically ruled out. Given that firm stance, the English forward's continued stay looks highly improbable, and the sporting department is already exploring alternatives.
Barcola emerges as surprise Barcelona target
Sporting director Deco initially focused on more affordable options, with names such as Ez Abde, Jan Virgili and Victor Munoz among those considered. However, the picture could change dramatically with the unexpected emergence of PSG's Bradley Barcola as a genuine target. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the talented Frenchman could rise to the very top of Barcelona's wishlist if he becomes available for sale this summer.

Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature, with uncertainty over Barcola's contractual situation in Paris casting serious doubt over his future at the club. Should Barcelona succeed in freeing up the necessary salary cap space through the expected departures of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, Andreas Christensen and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the Spanish leaders would become a very serious contender. Deco has long admired the player's talent.
Agent tensions and a hefty price tag
While Barcola himself is highly prized at the club, the same cannot be said of his agent, the controversial Moussa Sissoko, not to be confused with the former Tottenham midfielder who now plays for Panathinaikos. Barcelona's hierarchy hold Sissoko responsible for the acrimonious departure of Ousmane Dembele from the club in 2023.
Negotiations with him will therefore be anything but straightforward for the sporting director, yet they will be essential to completing any deal. Figures of around £70m have been discussed in connection with landing the French talent. The key question, however, is whether Barcelona will have sufficient funds remaining once they have brought in a new centre-back and striker, which continue to represent the absolute priorities of their summer operation.
