It is time to take a closer look at the latest transfer news today as Premier League clubs seek out potential deals ahead of the upcoming January window.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Old Trafford after Manchester United were handed a huge blow to their transfer aspirations, with one of their apparent targets sensationally turning the club down due to one key issue.

Elsewhere, West Ham’s pursuit of signings appears to have stepped up after the club outlined their main priority heading into the January window.

Here are the three biggest headlines of the day…

Man City enter race for Ezri Konsa

Man City are hoping to bolster their defensive options by signing Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, with the club closely monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation, according to the latest report by TBR Football.

The centre-back is under contract until the summer of 2028, though his future at Villa Park looks highly uncertain after City became the fifth Premier League club to mark their interest in the player.

City, who are looking for a long-term replacement for John Stones, will have to battle against Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in order to get the deal over the line.

Stones is currently in the last year of his contract, and Pep Guardiola’s men are seemingly not interested in an extension, with the prospect of bringing Konsa to the Etihad proving a far more enticing option for the transitioning Citizens.

Man Utd dealt blow in Jobe Bellingham pursuit

Man United’s hopes of bringing Jobe Bellingham to Old Trafford have been dashed after a scathing report from the Mirror suggests the player has no intention of swapping Borussia Dortmund for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with the player in recent days, though the latest report appears to have dashed any hopes of a deal, with the main sticking point being United’s lack of Champions League football this season.

Despite struggling with the transition from Sunderland to Dortmund since his £27m summer move, Bellingham is reportedly not too keen on the idea of swapping the German giants for a club without European competition.

Failure to lure Bellingham to Old Trafford could see the Red Devils turn their attention to Conor Gallagher, who is also struggling to get much game time at Atletico Madrid.

West Ham outline Alexsandro as top priority transfer

The big bosses at West Ham have promised to back new manager Nuno Espirito Santo in the January transfer window, and the club have already outlined Brazil defender Alexsandro as their top priority signing, according to a report by ESPN Mexico.

The 26-year-old plays his club football for Lille in Ligue 1 and is currently valued at £26m, though the Irons may have to offer a bigger number if they are to lure the player over to the London Stadium.

Alexsandro’s current deal with Lille runs until the summer of 2028, though the player may be tempted by the allure of the Premier League – especially as he looks to catch the eye of Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

West Ham are desperate for new blood ahead of the January transfer window, which is certainly good news for Lille, who will be looking to squeeze as much cash as they can from the struggling Irons.
