Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is reporting this story, and he adds that Chelsea are also working on signing the winger, having made contact with both United and the player's camp.
Value (3.5/5): United slap high price-tag
As per Gianluca Di Marzio, United are asking for a fee in the region of £55 million for the 20-year-old Argentine, who graduated from their academy.
Garnacho is tied to the club until the summer of 2028. As such, the Red Devils are in a strong negotiating position and their stance is further helped by Chelsea's interest.
Suitability (4/5): Direct winger for Conte's counter-attacking football
Romano insists that Conte is keen on signing Garnacho and has already held talks with the Argentina international. The Italian's determination makes sense considering the player's direct style of play and impressive dribbling ability would suit the manager's counter-attacking football in Naples.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Kvaratskhelia replacement
Following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's move to Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli's left flank is in immediate need of a reinforcement. Accordingly, Garnacho would not have to worry too much about competition, and if keeps doing the basics right, he would cement his place in Conte's starting lineup.
Logic (3.5/5): Best to leave
United have underlined their willingness to sell Garnacho by putting a reasonable price-tag on his services. This indicates that Ruben Amorim doesn't see the left winger as an important part of his 3-4-3 system. As such, it's best for the player to join a project that values his skill sets more.
Whisper+ verdict: 18.5/25
Napoli appear to be leading the race for Garnacho and since there isn't too much gap between their offer and United's asking price, this should get over the line. But keep an eye on Chelsea's movement.
