Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (3.5/5): The Independent drop Garnacho bombshell

Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, as Manchester United are willing to listen to offers for “almost any player”. The Argentine's name came up in talks between United and PSG over a potential transfer of Nuno Mendes.

This latest revelation has been made by The Independent, who are reasonably reliable for stories about English football.

Value (3/5): Garnacho's price-tag remains unknown

Garnacho is one of the most exciting talents in Europe. As such, it is surprising that United are open to parting ways with him, but their asking price for their academy product remains unknown.

He is valued at £41.8million by Transfermarkt, though we expect the Red Devils to demand a significantly higher fee. Mendes, meanwhile, is valued at £50.2million by the Parisians.

Suitability (3/5): Good option in transition

Luis Enrique's 4-3-3 system in the French capital is possession-based. As such, Garnacho might not be the most effective of the starters, owing to his questionable decision making in tight spaces. That said, he may prove to be a new attacking threat in transition due to his pace and ball-carrying ability.

Upgrade? (2.5/5): Kolo Muani replacement

With Bradley Barcola impressing this season, Garnacho is unlikely to start under Enrique on the left flank, but Randal Kolo Muani's departure could ensure he still gets significant minutes should United sell him to PSG. Kolo Muani himself, meanwhile, has been touted to leave the club amid interest from several Premier League clubs, including United.

Logic (4/5): Move that suits both clubs

It is tough to say how a move to Paris would impact Garnacho's development, but his departure could certainly help Ruben Amorim.

The Independent has seemingly ruled out the possibility of a swap deal involving Mendes. Still, Garnacho's sale could help the Mancunians meet PSG's valuation of Mendes. The Portuguese full-back has the ability to greatly improve Amorim's system.

Whisper+ verdict: 16/25

PSG are blessed with a number of attackers, so a move for Garnacho isn't considered their priority concern. However, his talents – combined with United's interest in Mendes – have the potential to take this ongoing transfer saga far.
