Championship predictions

In England, the lion’s share of attention is on the Premier League, but the Championship is still one of the most-watched leagues in the world despite it being the second tier.

Championship

Whether it is the standard of football on show, the intrigue of who drops further from the top of the pyramid, or the excitement of the chase for promotion to the biggest league in the world, the Championship has it all.

In any case, we will look at this competition in more detail in this post, including some of the outright Championship predictions and betting tips.

Most likely winners – Coventry still favoured to lift the trophy

As things stand, Coventry are still considered the favourites to win the Championship this season, despite their drop in form compared to the first half of the season. After all, they are still top of the table with a bit of a cushion.

They are  followed by Middlesbrough and Ipswich, one of the main pre-season favourites, who are a bit behind Coventry, but still in the race for the title.

Millwall and Hull are the next two on the list of potential winners, according to the bookies, although their chances to win the league are pretty much only theoretical at this point.

Relegation candidates – Sheffield Wednesday already packed their bags

Unsurprisingly, given the bad financial situation they are in and that they have they suffered an 18-point deduction, Sheffield Wednesday have been the odds-on favourites with bookmakers to get relegated from the Championship and their relegation has been confirmed now.

Leicester City were recently also handed a deduction of six points, which, along with their poor results recently, puts them in the relegation zone and the bookies see them as the main candidates to go down along with Wednesday and Oxford United.

West Brom, Blackburn, and Portsmouth are also in the mix for relegation.

Top scorer favourites – Wright and Vipotnik in the lead

At the moment, Swansea’s Zan Vipotnik is the leading Championship goalscorer, but he’s not the main candidate to win the Golden Boot. A bit ahead of him based on the odds is Haji Wright, who is one goal behind Vipotnik right now.

Oli McBurnie, Joe Genhardt, and Jack Clarke, are following the duo and they’re not that far off either, which is reflected in the odds.
