Will Salah score this weekend? – Liverpool April preview and form guide

Will Salah score this weekend? The answer, invariably, is ‘most likely'. Even after six years of relentless service with the Reds, the Egyptian King is showing no signs of slowing up, and remains hugely important in Liverpool's ongoing search for a treble to see out Jurgen Klopp's final season on Merseyside.

That said, Liverpool have six Premier League fixtures to contend with during a packed April that includes a rearranged Merseyside derby at Goodison Park after a brace of Europa League games against Atalanta, so Salah's form will be vital towards him achieving more personal accolades, alongside a potential second Premier League (PL) title.

With so many fixtures to play, we are here to analyse just how likely it is for Salah to continue his impressive goal-scoring season throughout April, and what his record looks like against each of the six sides Liverpool will face in the PL next month.

And as ever, we'll have free betting tips available, as Liverpool look to end 2023/24 with a bang.

Will Salah score this weekend?

Salah has struck against Brighton with reasonable consistency. Since signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2017, the Egyptian King has only failed to net against the Seagulls in two seasons. He also netted in October's reverse fixture at the Amex Stadium, but the catch is that his last four goals against the Sussex outfit have come on hostile turf.

For all of Salah's self-evident firepower, he hasn't scored against Brighton at Anfield since August 2018. That came just three months after his first at the same venue, with both goals in question being match-winning openers, scored during the 16th-30th minute period in clean-sheet victories. As such, he could be due a home goal against Brighton this weekend, alongside a Reds clean sheet.

What is Salah's H2H record like for April?

April is a busy month for Liverpool, but Salah's history against Liverpool's opponents-in-waiting makes their task less daunting on paper.

Sheffield United (4th April)

While Salah has a 100% win record against Sheffield United, he's only breached the Blades once, despite playing 426 minutes against them during his career. However, the Yorkshire side have shipped the most goals in the league this season (74), so it would be very surprising if the Egyptian captain wasn't to find the back of the net.

Our tip: Liverpool over 3.5 goals (6/5)

Man United (7th April)

Salah will be licking his lips at the thought of a match against Man United, having scored against them only 10 days ago, albeit in a game that ultimately ended Liverpool's hopes of achieving an unprecedented quadruple.

Meanwhile, his last six games in the league against the Red Devils have returned nine goals, with the Egyptian scoring at least twice in three of the previous five matches within that run. And while Andre Onana has shown signs of improvement since helping United get a creditable 0-0 draw at Anfield in December, Salah is still up there amongst the smartest picks to score first.

Crystal Palace (14th April)

Crystal Palace will be working tirelessly on the training ground to find a way of stopping Salah, as he loves playing the Eagles. Salah has 15 personal goal involvements in 13 prior appearances against Palace, including a goal and an assist in December's reverse clash. Overall, he failed to win just three of those encounters, with the one loss coming during his days as a Chelsea player.

He famously scored twice and got an assist – despite playing just 33 minutes as a second-half substitute – when the Reds demolished Palace 7-0 on their own turf back in December 2020.

Fulham (20th April)

Salah has an almost perfect record against Fulham, scoring four goals in six matches and avoiding defeat in all of them. He also got an assist in December's Anfield meeting, setting up the equaliser for 3-3 on 87 minutes, just moments before Trent Alexander-Arnold's dramatic winner.

Everton (24th April)

Ever since scoring a Puskas award-winning goal against the Toffees in December 2017, Salah has enjoyed most of his Merseyside derbies. He's yet to be on the losing side in one played with a present crowd, and bagged a brace in October's meeting as Liverpool won 2-0 for their fourth victory in five H2Hs against their neighbours.

But that's not all, as last October's opener was also Salah's third decisive goal during that same five-game sequence. A goal in this midweek clash would also rubber-stamp his third goalscoring Goodison derby in four visits dating back to October 2020.

West Ham (27th April)

Salah netted in all but one of his first eight league battles with the Hammers after joining Liverpool, but then drew blanks in each of the following two seasons. But he was back in form against the East Londoners earlier this campaign, opening the scoring in September's reverse fixture before smashing the fourth of Liverpool's five-goal haul against them in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

In practice, that means Liverpool have a perfect record from Salah's nine prior goalscoring games against the Hammers, including seven wins by a multi-goal margin. However, there's always room for a mistake at the other end, with the Reds keeping just two clean sheets across that same group of games, lending extra credibility to anyone backing a positive BTTS result alongside a Liverpool win.
