Will Salah score this weekend? – Liverpool December preview and form guide

Will Salah score this weekend? The answer, invariably, is ‘most likely'. Even after six years of relentless service with the Reds, the Egyptian King is showing no signs of slowing up, and is currently second-favourite to finish atop the PL's goalscoring charts.

That said, Liverpool have six Premier League fixtures to contend with during a packed December, so Salah's form will be vital towards him achieving more personal accolades, alongside a potential second Premier League (PL) title.

With so many fixtures to play, we are here to analyse just how likely it is for Salah to continue his impressive goal-scoring season throughout December, and what his record looks like against each of the six sides Liverpool will face.

What is Salah's H2H record like for December?

To kick-off December, Liverpool have three league games within seven days of each other, as they face Fulham at home before then travelling to Sheffield United and Crystal Palace. Then, they welcome Manchester United and Arsenal to Anfield, before venturing across the north-west to Burnley on Boxing Day.

Fulham (3rd Dec)

Salah has an almost perfect record against Fulham, scoring four goals in five matches and going unbeaten in five of them. And with the Reds playing at Anfield – where Salah's netted twice against Marco Silva's side – it looks ominous and very likely he will get himself on the scoresheet.

Will Salah score this weekend?

Our tip here is for Salah to score first & Liverpool to win. This outcome is available at average odds of 7/2.

Sheffield United (6th Dec)

While Salah has a 100% win record against Sheffield United, he's only breached the Blades once, despite playing 360 minutes against them during his career. However, the Yorkshire side have shipped the most goals in the league this season, including eight against Newcastle in September, so it would be very surprising if the Egyptian captain wasn't to find the back of the net.

Our tip: Liverpool over 3.5 goals

Crystal Palace (9th Dec)

Crystal Palace will be working tirelessly on the training ground to find a way of stopping Salah, as he loves playing the Eagles. Salah has 13 goal involvements in just 12 appearances against Palace, failing to win just three of those encounters – with the one loss coming during his days as a Chelsea player.

He famously scored twice and got an assist – despite playing just 33 minutes as a second-half substitute – when the Reds demolished Palace 7-0 on their own turf back in December 2020.

Man United (17th Dec)

Salah will be licking his lips at the thought of a home match against Man United, as they are the team he's scored the most goals against in his career with 12.

His last five games in the league have returned nine goals, with the Egyptian scoring at least twice in three of his previous four matches. So, looking at Salah to score a brace, or even a hat-trick, could be worth it, especially with how error-prone Andre Onana has looked for Man United.

Arsenal (23rd Dec)

Salah has actually failed to beat Arsenal in each of his last two matches against the Gunners, and has only found the back of the net three times in the previous seven meetings between the two sides.

This, coupled with a stern Arsenal defence this season under Mikel Arteta, means it may be wise to potentially avoid the Salah betting market. Additionally, it will be his second game in six days, and he has another one just three days later, so could be subbed off for a potential rest.

Burnley (26th Dec)

Surprisingly, despite having played Burnley nine times, he's scored just the one goal – and that was back in 2017. Jurgen Klopp is clearly aware of over-using Salah at this time of year too. He was rested in gameweek 15 of the 2018/19 season and also gameweek 18 of the 20/21 campaign.

So with this clash coming in gameweek 19, he could well be handed a spot on the bench after two mammoth games prior. Overall though, Salah does have a pretty impressive record against the majority of the teams he will face this month.
