Atletico Madrid vs Man United: Mouthwatering 10/3 Cristian Romero odds up for grabs in Champions League clash

Atletico Madrid host Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with the Spanish side looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool on matchday one, while United head into the contest on the back of a 4-0 victory over Sabah at Old Trafford.

Diego Simeone’s men have been in fine domestic form, winning their last four LaLiga matches, including a 2-1 derby victory over Real Madrid and another 2-1 success away to Alaves last time out, where new signing Cristian Romero scored a late winner.

Michael Carrick’s United, meanwhile, have won just one of their opening six Premier League matches this season and were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday after conceding an injury-time equaliser.

Atletico are 10/11 (1.91) favourites with bet365 to claim all three points, while United are underdogs at 11/4 (3.75).

Could meeting an old foe reignite Cristian Romero’s disciplinary problems?

Romero has made an encouraging start to life at Atletico Madrid since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Argentine has featured in six matches for Los Colchoneros this season, starting five of them, suggesting that he has already established himself as a key figure in Simeone’s plans.

Known for his aggressive approach to defending, Romero has surprisingly collected just one yellow card since his move, but a reunion with Manchester United could bring out the more combative side of the former Spurs defender.

The 28-year-old has faced United 10 times in his career, all while representing Tottenham, winning three, losing three and drawing the other four.

Romero was booked in three of those meetings, while his last two appearances against the Red Devils proved particularly eventful, as he received a yellow card in the 2-2 draw in November 2025 before being shown a straight red in the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford in February.

With his disciplinary record against United offering an interesting angle ahead of Tuesday’s encounter, backing Romero to be booked looks an appealing option at 10/3 (4.33) with bet365.
