Liverpool will be aiming to earn their first piece of major silverware for the season when they take on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
The Reds were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties at Anfield in midweek, meaning that they can no longer win a treble. Arne Slot could still win a double though in his debut season, should his team win the Carabao Cup on top of an expected Premier League title triumph.

Liverpool first goalscorer odds – Our picks
Mohamed Salah (4/1)
The obvious pick is Mohamed Salah, who is enjoying an outstanding season for Liverpool. Indeed, he has score no fewer than 32 goals in all competitions so far, including two in the Carabao Cup.
Six of them have been the opening goal of the game, at a rate of around 18.8%. Nonetheless, the Egyptian superstar relishes the big occasions, and could cause Newcastle instant trouble.
Diogo Jota (6/1)
Diogo Jota features in our picks given how lethal he can be in front of goal. The Portugal international is admittedly going through a tough spell, but has still scored eight goals in total over all competitions so far this season.
One of those was in the Carabao Cup, and three of them saw him open the scoring. That means 37.5% of his goals have been scored first in games, around double Salah's percentage.
Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo (13/2)
Two players with contrasting seasons also appear in our picks. Darwin Nunez has come under fire for poor finishing in a Liverpool shirt, and missed a decisive penalty in the shootout in midweek. However, the Uruguayan has still netted seven goals across all competitions so far this season, and four of those have opened the scoring, giving him a good chance of lighting up the final.
Cody Gakpo has been the better performer this campaign, and boasts 16 goals in all competitions, with five coming in the Carabao Cup. Four of those have been as first goalscorer, including his last two, and so the Dutchman should be confident of potentially extending his streak at Wembley.
