The final two weeks of the transfer window are proving tense for Barcelona. The club is still working to register new signings, including Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin, and Roony Bardghji. Despite efforts throughout the summer, Barcelona have struggled to complete a major sale – though that might not ultimately be necessary. Key defender Iñigo Martínez has departed, easing the club’s wage cap situation slightly.
Barcelona player registration issues
Recently, sporting director Xavi expressed doubts over how much revenue from VIP seat rentals would actually impact the wage cap, which Barcelona are negotiating with La Liga. The rental scheme was originally intended to help resolve the club’s financial difficulties. The team now hope that the departures of Oriol Romeu and Iñaki Peña will free up enough room to register all players.

West Ham United and Wolverhampton eye Casado
Meanwhile, interest is mounting in talented midfielder Marc Casado. According to Spanish outlet Marca, West Ham United and Wolverhampton have expressed interest. Although no concrete offers have yet been made, there is speculation that someone could pay up to €30m (£26m) for the 20-year-old. Journalist Matteo Moretto notes, however, that any transfer depends on persuading Casado himself, who has made it clear he wants to remain at Barcelona.
Earlier in the summer, Casado was reportedly on the radar of Tottenham, Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, and Manchester United, but no bids materialised. More recently, Spanish outlet Sport reported that Real Betis also requested a loan deal, which was rejected by both Casado and Barcelona, who insist on a minimum €30 million fee.
Securing a starting spot will be difficult for Casado this season. In his position, Frenkie de Jong is the clear first choice alongside Pedri, while Gavi also competes for minutes in central midfield. Injuries could play a role, but for now, Casado is effectively Hansi Flick’s fourth option.
