The transfer news space is starting to get busy as we approach the summer window, leaving us no choice but to take a closer look at some of the latest transfer news today.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Old Trafford as Manchester United look to capitalise on West Ham’s relegation by signing one of their top talents.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are kicking off their plans for next season by targeting a new goalkeeper.

The dust has not fully settled from West Ham’s Premier League relegation, yet rival clubs are already targeting their top players, including Manchester United who are setting their sights on Mateus Fernandes.

According to the latest reports from the Daily Mail, United have made an enquiry about the 21-year-old midfielder, who is valued at around £80m.

The Portugal international is already being monitored by both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, though no official approach has been made.

Fernandes signed a five-year deal with West Ham last summer – a deal which does not have a release contract, meaning the Irons will be looking to squeeze as much cash as they can from their talented midfielder.

Serie A giants AC Milan are confident that Luka Modric will sign a new deal to stay at the club for another year, according to reports by Football Italia.

The club’s sporting director Igli Tare is expecting the 40-year-old midfielder to stick around, though the final decision could be made after the World Cup.

Modric was called up by Croatia earlier this week, despite struggling with a fractured cheekbone which he picked up during a recent Serie A clash with Juventus.

The veteran earned around £2.5m for his one season at AC Milan, and he would be expected to bank a similar amount next season, should he remain at San Siro.

After securing their Premier League status, planning has already started for the new campaign, with Spurs pondering a potential deal for Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

Tottenham have struggled in the goalkeeping department this past season, particularly with new signing Antonin Kinsky showing vulnerabilities in certain games this season.

Trubin has just helped Jose Mourinho’s Benfica complete an unbeaten season and there are a number of clubs who are chasing his signature.

One of those are Tottenham, who according to A Bola in Portugal, are yet to make an official enquiry about the goalkeeper.
