We're bringing you our Portugal League predictions for Vizela vs Sporting on Thursday. The league leaders Sporting are the big favourite to claim all three points away at struggling Vizela this week. Sporting top the Primeira Liga table by a point and can't afford any slip-ups as their arch-rivals Benfica have a better goal difference and look ready to pounce on any mistakes made.

Vizela vs Sporting Lisbon prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Sporting to Win-to-Nil

  • Sporting have won each of their last seven games against Vizela.
  • Sporting have kept clean sheets in three of their last five league games.

Another reason that we have backed Sporting to win to nil as our main prediction for this game is that Vizela failed to score in a recent home game against Moreirense.

Vizela vs Sporting Lisbon team news

Vizela

Vizela suffered a heavy defeat in their last league game at home to Boavista, going down by four goals to one. The game was already over by the time Vizela pulled a goal back in the eighty-seventh minute through Samuel Essende but the team must refocus as they face a much tougher test on Thursday against the league leaders.

Vizela have no fresh injury concerns and no suspended players ahead of what is going to be one of their toughest games of the season so far.

Predicted Lineup: Buntić (GK), Wilson, Anderson, Pereira, Oliveira, Samu, Bustamante, Awudu, Nascimento, Essende & Lacava

Sporting Lisbon

Sporting made light work of Chaves at the Estádio Municipal Eng. Manuel Branco Teixeira. Paulinho broke the deadlock right before the break and early in the second half, Trincao and Pote scored to put Sporting into a commanding 3-0 lead that they never looked like losing.

Hidemasa Morita, Ousmane Diomande and Geny Catamo are all away at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Jerry St. Juste and Iván Fresneda are both expected to be sidelined through injury until February.

Predicted Lineup: Adán (GK), Esgaio, Reis, Quaresma, Inácio, Santos, Hjulmand, Pote, Paulinho, Gyökeres & Trincão

Player to Watch: Paulinho

Paulinho has settled really well into life at Sporting Lisbon since making the move from Braga in 2021.

The attacker scored eleven times in his first full season with Sporting and in 2024 we fully expect him to eclipse that total as he has already scored eight times in the 2023/24 campaign.

The 31-year-old is in good form right now with three goals in his last five matches in all competitions, and we're backing him to impress on Thursday night against a leaky Vizela defence.
