Liverpool have already signed six new players this summer, including record signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. Alongside Wirtz, teammates Jeremie Frimpong, left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and forward Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt have also joined Anfield.

But the Reds are also working hard to strengthen their academy. They recently secured 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City, who has already made his debut for the England U21s. Arsenal had shown interest in Wright, highlighting his potential. And Liverpool’s summer recruitment is not over yet — Anfield Watch recently reported the signing of another academy prospect, Senegalese winger Sidy Barhama Ndiaye from Diambars FC.

Ndiaye has already spent some time training with the Reds and even featured in a friendly match, but fans will have to wait for his senior debut. The 15-year-old will only turn 18 in December 2027, meaning he can officially join Liverpool in January 2028. However, FIFA rules allow him to spend up to eight weeks per calendar year with the club to acclimatise to English football and conditions.

The next Sadio Mané? Liverpool’s move for teenage Senegalese winger

Currently playing for the youth side of Diambars FC, Ndiaye caught attention at the African U17 Nations Cup. He is also set to represent Senegal at the U17 World Cup, where they will face Croatia, Costa Rica and the UAE in Group A.

Scouting site TotalScouting describes Ndiaye as the fastest U17 player the world has ever seen, though they question whether he will develop the technical skills needed to play regularly in Europe’s top five leagues.

From a young age, Ndiaye has been compared to former Liverpool star Sadio Mané, both hailing from Senegal. Diambars FC has a strong track record of producing players who have succeeded in Europe’s top leagues, including Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye and former Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye.
