Struggling badly at Tottenham, Mathys Tel has a strong chance of being loaned out during this January window. Paris FC could attempt to revive the French forward.
Nearly a year after his arrival at Tottenham for a fee of €55m (£48.5m), the verdict is clearly not positive for Mathys Tel. While the French forward won the Europa League last season, he has been unable to establish himself in Spurs' attacking setup. Thomas Frank's arrival has changed nothing, with the former Bayern Munich player still struggling for form, scoring just five goals since arriving in the Premier League.
A departure this winter could be a good solution to get his career back on track and regain confidence. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham do not wish to sell Mathys Tel but remain open to a loan until the end of the season. The transfer specialist adds that among the clubs interested in the 20-year-old forward is Paris FC, who are precisely looking for reinforcements in their attacking department.

Paris FC want to revive Mathys Tel
At the halfway point of the season, Paris FC, in their return to the French top flight, sit in 15th place in Ligue 1. The Parisian club are clearly threatened by relegation and have just four points above the drop zone. In order to avoid a drop to Ligue 2, which would be a huge failure for the PFC project, the hierarchy are planning to invest during this January window, particularly by improving their attack. The capital club have already attempted to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo, which did not come to fruition.
Mathys Tel would be an excellent addition for Stephane Gilli's side. For his part, the former Stade Rennais wonderkid is not opposed to the idea of being loaned until the end of the season. However, it remains to be seen whether Paris FC will be a project that appeals to Mathys Tel, who would therefore go from competing in the Champions League with Spurs to fighting for survival at a newly-promoted Ligue 1 club.
