Vitoria Guimaraes vs Rio Ave team news

Vitoria Guimaraes

Vitoria Guimaraes were away at Boavista last weekend where a goal from Jota Silva gave the visitors the lead on the half-hour mark. Guimaraes looked like they had done enough to win the game only for Boavista to be awarded a stoppage-time penalty which Tiago Morais converted, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Guimaraes avoided picking up any injuries in that draw with Boavista and head into Saturday's clash with Rio Ave with a clean bill of health and no suspended players.

Predicted Lineup: Varela (GK), Fernandes, Mangas, Borevković, Ribeiro, Maga, T. Silva, Händel, J. Silva, da Luz & Butzke

Rio Ave

Rio Ave will have been disappointed to have only drawn at home with Vizela, especially as their guests ended the game with ten men. Following a goalless first forty-five, Vizela took the lead in the fifty-fifth minute but Emmanuel Boateng was on hand to equalise for Rio Ave in the seventy-second minute. Matias Lacava was shown a second yellow card moments after Rio Ave scored but the hosts failed to make the most of their one-man advantage and had to settle for a point.

Predicted Lineup: Jhonatan (GK), Santos, Sá, Nóbrega, Costinha, Oudrhiri, Guga, Joca, Boateng, Pereira & Ronaldo

Player to Watch: Tiago Silva

Tiago Silva has been the main creative force in the Vitoria Guimaraes side this season and we're backing the Portuguese midfielder to put in another impressive display this weekend against Rio Ave.

Silva has provided four assists in the league for Guimaraes, twice as many as any of his teammates, and he has provided two goals as well. We're expecting a close game this weekend but someone like Tiago Silva could make the difference for Guimaraes with his quality on the ball in the final third.
