Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Widespread reports
AC Milan are willing to take Man Utd's Marcus Rashford on loan for the rest of the season after the England international was shown the exit door at Old Trafford.
Rashford has stated that he wants a new chapter away from United, making this news – which has been widely reported, including by caughtoffside.com – quite credible.
Value (4/5): Loan deal gives Milan flexibility
Rashford was not exactly setting the Premier League alight before being cast aside by Ruben Amorim, scoring just seven times in all competitions.
United are said to want £40 million for him, and with questions surrounding his ability to still perform at the top level, Milan are perhaps right to be cautious by offering an initial loan.
Suitability (3.5/5): Fits the new system
New Milan boss Sergio Conceicao opting for a 4-3-3 will be good news for Rashford, who could take up either the left or central role in that front three.
He may not have experience in Italy, but some memorable European performances suggest a spell on the continent could work in his favour as he looks to rediscover his form.
Upgrade? (3/5): Can fill a problem area
Milan were forced to play right-back Alex Jimenez on the left-wing against Juventus at the weekend with Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor both injured.
Rashford could fill that gap in the short-term, but any starting berth would be gone practically the minute Leao regains full fitness. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic would not give him much of a look-in at centre-forward.
Logic (2.5/5): Rashford needs to move on
He might not get too many minutes, but with moves to PSG and Saudi Arabia not materialising, Rashford may have to take a risk and prove himself in Italy.
Yet, unless Milan are expecting to lose a couple of forwards this month, this move doesn't seem to be of much interest for them.
Whisper+ verdict: 16/25
It is certainly not an ideal move, but beggars cannot be choosers, and Rashford might not get a better offer, if Milan's interest is indeed genuine.
