Authenticity (2.5/5): Forest keen to land Cunha

Forest are still among Cunha's admirers after reportedly making enquiries about a potential deal in the winter market.

According to TBR Football, Nuno Espirito Santo's side are preparing to ‘push hard' to sign the Brazilian in the summer transfer window.

Value (3/5): Cunha could be a club-record transfer

Forest will have to splash the cash if they are to bring Cunha to the City Ground. The Wolves forward signed a new deal in February to extend his contract until June 2029.

However, there is a £62m release in his new contract, meaning Forest would have to break their current transfer record to sign the 25-year-old.

Suitability (4/5): Depth for potential Champions League campaign

Cunha would add to Forest's depth which could be invaluable if Forest's schedule gets busier with Champions League football next season. The Wolves man would also offer some versatility in attacking areas, having proven he can also play as a second striker or even on the flanks if required.

Upgrade? (4/5): Wood alternative

As it stands, it is difficult to see how Cunha displaces Chris Wood in the starting lineup, given the fact the New Zealand international has racked up 18 goals in 29 Premier League appearances this season.

However, he has different strengths to Wood due to his greater mobility and willingness to run with the ball. Such an alternative could be invaluable next season, especially if Wood is injured or out of form. Cunha can also be utilised in other areas, having proven he can play as a second striker or even out wide when required.

Logic (3/5): Arsenal interest could be decisive

A move to Forest represents a step up for Cunha, especially if they can clinch Champions League qualification. However, there may be some doubt as to whether Forest can carry their success from this season into the 2025-26 campaign. With that in mind, Cunha could favour a move to an established top club like Arsenal, who are believed to be among his potential suitors.

Whisper+ verdict: 16.5/25

Cunha would offer Forest another dimension in the final third, but there may be some concern about how much it will cost to prise him away from Molineux. Forest would also have their work cut out to fend off rival interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
