West Ham United have sacked Nuno Espirito Santo after a disappointing start to their Championship campaign, bringing his 13-month spell at the club to an end. The Portuguese coach was unable to keep the Hammers in the Premier League last season and has now paid the price for their failure to make a convincing start to life in the second tier.
Nuno took charge in September 2025, replacing Graham Potter, and initially helped West Ham improve their form. However, the upturn came too late to save their top-flight status, and expectations were high heading into the 2026-27 campaign, with the Hammers boasting arguably the most valuable squad in the Championship. Just 13 games into the season, they find themselves eighth in the table, six points behind leaders Middlesbrough and with only two wins from their last six matches.
Back-to-back home defeats to Southampton and West Brom proved to be the final straw. Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also left the club, with former captain Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville taking temporary charge ahead of Wednesday's trip to Cardiff City and Saturday's home game against Blackburn Rovers.
With the dismissal coming so close to the international break, West Ham have around a fortnight to find a replacement. Here, Football Whispers looks at the latest odds for the next West Ham manager.

| Candidate | Odds | Implied Probability |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Scott Parker | 3/1 | 25.0% |
| 2 Rob Edwards | 4/1 | 20.0% |
| 3 Kieran McKenna | 5/1 | 16.7% |
| 4 Eddie Howe | 6/1 | 14.3% |
| 5 Steven Gerrard | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Scott Parker is the early favourite at 3/1, and he has a strong connection to West Ham after captaining the club during a four-year spell as a player. He also has plenty of experience of getting teams out of the Championship, having secured promotion with Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley. Sporting director Mark Noble is reportedly keen on bringing his former midfield partner back to the club, while reports from talkSPORT and The Times suggest that a deal could be close.
Rob Edwards is next at 4/1 after previously guiding Luton Town into the Premier League through the playoffs in 2023. The 43-year-old later took charge of Wolves before leaving following their relegation last season and is currently without a club, so his availability could make him an attractive option if West Ham want to move quickly.
Kieran McKenna is priced at 5/1 after leading Ipswich Town to successive promotions from League One to the Premier League. He left Ipswich earlier this year and has indicated that he will be careful about choosing his next job. West Ham could offer an attractive project given their resources and squad quality.
Eddie Howe is available at 6/1, having previously guided Bournemouth and Newcastle to impressive spells in the Premier League. However, the former Newcastle boss may prefer to wait for another top-flight opportunity rather than take charge of a Championship club.
Steven Gerrard is further back at 8/1 following managerial spells at Rangers, Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq. He led Rangers to an unbeaten Scottish Premiership title in 2020-21, but has never managed in the Championship, which could count against him given the demands of the division.
