Off the back of opening their Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk, PSV suffered a further setback with a 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig on matchday two, followed by a disappointing loss to Eredivisie newcomers ADO Den Haag.

However, Peter Bosz’s side have since responded with a crucial 1-0 win over Porto to ignite their Champions League campaign, while Sunday’s 7-0 demolition of Willem II underlined their determination to defend their domestic crown.

Ending a run of three friendly matches between the sides, De Rood-Witten now prepare for their first-ever official meeting with Club Brugge, seeking another continental win to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stages, having exited at the League Phase last season.

Unbeaten at home since August's Johan Cruyff Shield defeat to AZ Alkmaar, PSV have been a force to reckon with in front of their fans and having seven different goalscorers last time out emphasises their threat from multiple positions, which is undoubtedly good news for Bosz.

After contending with several injury concerns earlier in the campaign, Wednesday’s hosts are now close to full strength, with Adamo Nagalo and Alassane Plea their only current absentees – the former ruled out for the entire 2026-27 season.

Like PSV, Club Brugge also began their 2026-27 campaign with a Super Cup defeat but have wasted no time turning things around in Ivan Leko’s first full season since succeeding Nicky Hayen in December 2025.

While not quite as eye-catching as their 4-3 victory at the San Siro, a 3-0 win over Ligue 1 side Lens in their most recent UCL outing on October 21 marked the sixth victory in an eight-match winning streak across all competitions for the Belgian giants.

Blauw-Zwart have been in outstanding form since opening their European campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa, significantly boosting their chances of reaching the UCL last 16 for the third time in their last four appearances at this level.

Club Brugge have scored four goals in each of their last three away matches and will need a similar attacking display for their pivotal trip to Eindhoven – a clash that could propel them into the top eight if results elsewhere go their way.

With a daunting assignment against Anderlecht following Wednesday’s clash, the visitors will see their momentum sternly tested just before the international break and emerging unscathed would be a major statement of intent.

Whispers predicts: PSV Eindhoven 2-1 Club Brugge

Both teams head into Wednesday’s clash in fine form and will back themselves to gain the upper hand. However, we are siding with PSV to claim victory at 1/1 (Evens).

While the result could go either way, a high level of entertainment seems assured given the attacking quality on display. BTTS – Yes at 1/3 (1.33) stands out as an appealing selection.

Nicolo Tresoldi has scored eight goals in six matches for Club Brugge since the September/October international break, and backing him to score anytime at 11/10 (2.10) looks a solid option.
