Rotherham vs Millwall : Our top betting tips

Rotherham's good start to the campaign has just started to lose momentum now. Can they find a way to get back on the winning train as they welcome Millwall to the New York Stadium? Find out with our Rotherham vs Millwall match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Millers to win it

We kick off our tips for this match by backing Rotherham to win. The Millers have only won once in their last five outings but they have collected seven points from their last 12 at home, which is a decent return. Millwall by contrast are useless away from home. They lost to Blackburn at the weekend making it three straight away defeats but, actually, things are more bleak than that. The Lions have hit the road six times so far this season whilst losing five times – whilst winning none. It gives them the second worst away record in the Championship.

A low scorer

Our next tip is an under 2.5 goals prediction from the total goals market and, to be honest, a look over the stats made this quite a simple call to make. Rotherham have gone under the 2.5 threshold in three of their last four games with Millwall seeing three of their last five end the same way. The real clincher though comes from the head to head record with five of the last six going south of that 2.5 goal cut off. In fact, each of those five ‘under' games have gone under 1.5 goals so if you were feeling ultra ballsy that bet, which has odds of 2/1 (3.00), isn't out of the way crazy!

Can Rotherham put on a show for their potential new boss?

It's hard to bill this match up as anything but a mid table Championship club with the sides sat 12th and 16th respectively. We're sure Rotherham, who sit the higher of the two sides, won't mind that having been tipped for the drop in pre-season but Millwall will know they have work to do if they're to threaten the top six as would have been their ambition; if that's to happen you feel wins over teams like the Millers are essential.

Rotherham arrive here off the back of a ropey run of form but it's not all bad news; they have practically a full strength squad to choose from. The one exception to that rule is Lee Peltier; he's injured and expected out later this month. The other big thing to note here is that the Millers might have a new man in charge – albeit he'll likely be in the stands – with Matt Taylor expected to be named boss.

Rotherham Predicted lineup – Johansson, Hall, Wood, Harding, Barlaser, Norton-Cuffy, Bramall, Wiles, Rathbone, Ogbene, Washington

Like their hosts, Millwall could arrive here in better form than they do but they can point to a couple of key injuries as a excuse. That said, they'll be doing it again here without that duo; Shaun Hutchinson and Mason Bennett, who have 11 goal contributions between them so far this season, are out.

Millwall Predicted lineup – Bialkowski, Wallace, Cooper, Cresswell, Malone, Styles, Honeyman, Mitchell, Shackleton, Flemming, Afobe
