Manchester United are not done with their transfer business and are reportedly making a strong push to sign a midfielder who had also been on Real Madrid’s radar.
Following a 3-2 victory over Burnley—United’s first win of the season under tough conditions—the Red Devils have shown they still have plenty of gaps to fill in their squad. One priority is the goalkeeping position. In that regard, Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa is said to be closing in on a move to Old Trafford, with a deal potentially finalised within hours.
At the same time, United are believed to have stepped up negotiations for Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller. The German international had previously been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, but that transfer never materialised, and Los Blancos have now seemingly moved on from the target. This opens a door for United, who are reportedly looking to seize the opportunity. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a Manchester United delegation is currently in Stuttgart to attempt to reach a final agreement.

Angelo Stiller, a last-minute target for United?
At 24, Angelo Stiller enjoyed a breakout season last term. Now capped four times by Germany, he has been tipped as the natural successor to Toni Kroos. A DFB-Pokal winner with Stuttgart, the midfielder is regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s standout players in his position. His potential arrival would provide a much-needed boost to Ruben Amorim’s midfield.
However, Fabrizio Romano has cast doubt on the situation, reporting that Stuttgart are not currently negotiating with any club for the highly rated midfielder.
It also remains unclear whether Stiller himself would accept a move to Old Trafford, having previously envisioned a future at Real Madrid only a few weeks ago. To sign the Bayern Munich academy graduate, United would need to pay at least €45m (around £38m), which reflects his current market value.
Despite the reported interest, the current expectation is that Stiller will remain at Stuttgart, and that Manchester United are unlikely to make a last-minute bid.
