Since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, Saudi Arabia has become a new destination of choice for many top footballers. The Portuguese forward is now reportedly attempting to persuade one of his former Manchester United team-mates to follow him to the Middle East.

As has been the case in every transfer window over the past two years, Saudi clubs continue to lure big-name players from Europe. The summer of 2025 saw the likes of Joao Felix, Kingsley Coman and Theo Hernandez make the switch — and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Ronaldo, far from satisfied, is now targeting Casemiro as the next big arrival at Al-Nassr.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ronaldo remains in regular contact with his former Real Madrid colleague and would welcome the opportunity to play alongside the Brazilian once again. For Al-Nassr, signing Casemiro is said to be a priority.

Al-Nassr hoping to land Casemiro on a free transfer

Casemiro joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 but is now entering the final year of his contract, which expires in June 2026. The club are reportedly not planning to offer a renewal.

The Brazilian international, who turns 34 in February, has struggled to bring stability to United’s midfield in recent months. Despite his vast experience, he has not consistently met expectations — and the Premier League side are already planning a major overhaul of their midfield options next summer.

With age and a high salary both weighing against him, a move to Saudi Arabia could represent a logical next step for Casemiro. Al-Nassr are reportedly hoping to sign him on a free transfer, and Ronaldo’s influence could prove decisive.

Casemiro has earned 78 caps for Brazil, scoring seven goals. Should he decide to join Al-Nassr, it would likely be the final high-profile contract of his career.
