Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (4.5/5): David Ornstein breaks huge news
Manchester United have sensationally convinced Bryan Mbeumo to join them despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
The story comes from the very reliable David Ornstein, who adds the Red Devils are set to open talks with Brentford to find an agreement over a summer transfer.
Value (3.5/5): Dwindling contract
The 25-year-old is one of the best forwards in the Premier League, but he is unlikely to cost a staggering amount as he has only a year left on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford have the option to extend it by 12 months, but they are expected to be happy to sell him for a fee in the region of £50million.
Suitability (4.5/5): Complete forward
Mbeumo has drawn comparisons to Mo Salah, as akin to the Egyptian, the Brentford star is also capable of both scoring and creating chances for his teammates. He can also effectively carry the ball into the final third and has an impressive work ethic, making him an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim's wide playmaker role.
Upgrade? (4/5): Challenge for Amad
Amad is currently seen as Amorim's first-choice option for the right-sided wide-playmaker role, but Mbeumo is likely to start ahead of the young Ivorian if he moves to Old Trafford. Amad could provide him solid competition as well as play as a right wing-back.
Logic (4/5): Preferred move
United are in no position to offer Mbeumo Champions League football like his other three suitors, and yet the player prefers to join the Red Devils as he considers their project the perfect fit for his career.
Whisper+ verdict: 20.5/25
With Mbeumo already convinced, United should get this deal over the line fairly quickly.
