Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (4/5): Italian media fuels Osimhen rumours
In recent days, Turkish and African outlets have suggested that Manchester United have convinced Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, to sign for them.
Now, Italian publication TuttoSport states the Premier League outfit have an “agreement in principle” with the Napoli striker's entourage over his salary amid interest from Juventus.
Value (3/5): United will have to trigger his release clause
Napoli's stance has been pretty clear in the last few months. They are prepared to sell Osimhen, but only if his £64.4million release clause is triggered once he returns from his loan stint at Galatasaray. It is added that in order to sign Osimhen, United will need to push Rasmus Hojlund out of the club.
Suitability (4.5/5): Elite finisher
Known for his movement in and around the penalty area and finishing ability, the 26-year-old is one of the best strikers in Europe, having proven his mettle in France, Italy, and Turkey. Considering his experience, he should find little difficulty in replicating his goalscoring prowess in the Premier League.
Upgrade? (5/5): Massive improvement
The way Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have performed so far, it is not going to be very tough for United to find their upgrade. In Osimhen, Ruben Amorim would be handed a prolific striker who can add new life to his attack.
Logic (4/5): Time to return to the big stage
Osimhen has seemingly enjoyed his time in Istanbul, having scored 29 goals across all competitions. However, he is a big fish in a small pond, and sooner rather than later, he will push for a move to a big European side. In that regard, there are very few better options than the Red Devils.
Whisper+ verdict: 20.5/25
It is not going to be easy for the Mancunians to trigger his release clause but they have made plenty of progress in securing Osimhen's agreement.
