Authenticity (3.5/5): Kean lands on United's radar
Manchester United have been scouring the transfer market for a new striker and the latest name to attract their interest is Fiorentina and Italy striker Moise Kean.
The story comes from the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, who always have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to Italian football.
Value (3/5): Release clause
Kean only moved to Fiorentina last summer and has four years left to run on his contract in Florence. However, the deal includes a release clause worth £44.5million. Kean has always impressed scouts with his potential but this is his first proper prolific campaign as a striker. As such, it remains to be seen if United would agree to spend such a figure based on just one successful campaign.
Suitability (4/5): Fox in the box
The 25-year-old is known for his physicality and ability to finish with both feet. This season, in particular, the Italy international has caught the attention of Europe's biggest clubs with his movement in and around the penalty area. He scored 25 goals in all competitions for Fiorentina.
Upgrade? (4/5): Better than Amorim's current options
Ruben Amorim isn't spoilt for choices in attack, as both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to score on a consistent basis. Kean isn't the most reliable striker around but his 2024/25 tally suggests he would be a better goalscorer than Amorim's current options.
Logic (3/5): Another go in England
The ex-Juventus talent has already played in the Premier League, having plied his trade in Merseyside with Everton. That move didn't pan out as planned and he returned to Italy. Another opportunity to prove his doubters in England wrong may tempt Kean into accepting United's possible proposal.
Whisper+ verdict: 17.5/25
Kean has the profile United desperately need but his lack of consistency could make the club's hierarchy think twice before triggering his release clause.
