A meeting between FC Barcelona and Manchester United recently took place regarding Marcus Rashford and the Blaugrana's option to buy.
Pushed towards the exit at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford bounced back at FC Barcelona on a loan deal with an option to buy set at €30m (£26.3m). A choice that has paid off for the English winger, who has rediscovered his form in Catalonia. Fully integrated into Hansi Flick's attacking rotation, he has scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 27 matches this season.
Barca want to sign Rashford permanently, but…
Naturally, the Catalan club are satisfied with his contribution and are already thinking about the future. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, a meeting took place between FC Barcelona and Manchester United at the beginning of January regarding Marcus Rashford. The two clubs explored options to make the 28-year-old's move to Barca permanent.

However, the €30m (£26.3m) fee is too high for the Catalan club's finances. The Spanish giants therefore do not wish to trigger this option to buy and have sounded out the English club for a transfer at a lower price. The La Liga leaders really want to sign Rashford, with Hansi Flick also pushing for the move, and have proposed a second option.
Further discussions planned between Barca and Manchester United
This would be another loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions. It should be noted that the player's position has not changed: Marcus Rashford wants to stay at FC Barcelona. Thus, following this meeting, the groundwork has been laid, but nothing has been decided.
Further discussions are therefore expected between the two clubs before the end of the season in an attempt to reach an agreement. In any case, by not triggering the option to buy for the England international, the Blaugrana are taking a risk. Indeed, another club could convince the winger next summer or the future Red Devils manager could persuade him to return to his boyhood club.
