Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (2.5/5): Source can be very hot or cold

Manchester United are looking forward to giving new boss Ruben Amorim the best possible squad for his tenure at Old Trafford as they want the Portuguese to finally be the one to lead the club back to the top of English football. As such, the Red Devils are considering signing a new centre-back despite already having splurged on Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt over the summer.

Inter Live suggested that Manchester United are looking towards making a move for Inter Milan's highly-rated defender Bisseck either in January or over the summer of 2025 as they look to get rid of the likes of Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof as part of an overhaul. The report has suggested that the Nerazzurri are looking at extending the German's contract but would be ready to sell if offered a fee in the region of £33 million.

Inter Live is not a very reputed source, but the report could potentially be taken with a pinch of salt as the centre-back has also been linked with other Premier League sides.

Value (4/5): United should pounce on Inter's cheap fee demand

Bisseck has become a mainstay in Simone Inzaghi's defence and has shown much promise in the Inter Milan setup. If the transfer price suggested by Inter Live is accurate, Manchester United's recruitment team should be all over the German. For just £33 million, the Red Devils will be able to add more youth to their setup, allowing them to move their veteran defenders.

Suitability (5/5): Adept at playing in a three-man defence

Amorim is likely to deploy a three-man defence at Manchester United as he did at Sporting CP over the last few years. The Red Devils only have two centre-backs, Lisandro Martinez and De Ligt, who have played in a similar setup before. As such, signing Bisseck, who has played in a three-man defensive setup at Inter Milan, would fit right into the gap left in Amorim's defence.

Upgrade? (3/5): Bisseck not a major upgrade on current centre-backs

Despite their defensive troubles through the start of the current season, Manchester United definitely do not have a bad lineup of centre-backs. The Red Devils currently employ the likes of De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro, Maguire, Evans and Lindelof, all of who definitely can perform better than they have this season.

The major part of the blame goes towards Erik ten Hag for the defence's lack of form as the Dutchman's setup often left the back line open to attacks with the balance of the side very lopsided. As such, there is a chance the centre-backs could find some form upon Amorim's arrival.

Nonetheless, Bisseck's young age would be a worthy upgrade over Evans, who is likely to retire at the end of this season.

Logic (2.5/5): A considerable risk for Bisseck

The 23-year-old has found his footing at San Siro under Inzaghi, and as such, a move to an unstable Manchester United side comes with a considerable personal risk for Bisseck. However, there are also a number of upsides to making the move to Old Trafford. A move to the Premier League would see the under-appreciated defender finally enter the spotlight that he may need to earn a call-up from the German national team finally.

Whisper+ final verdict – 17/25

If Manchester United are unable to make the January move for Sporting's Goncalo Inacio, they are better off waiting until the summer of 2025 before deciding upon making a major change to the squad.

With their current options at centre-back, they can hold out for the next six months. However, if the Red Devils have their minds set on signing a new centre-back, Bisseck is not a bad option.
