Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (3/5): TEAMtalk add surprise name to Liverpool's shortlist

Liverpool are interested in Nice winger Mohamed-Ali Cho and could “seriously” consider signing him in the summer after being left impressed with glimpses of his “world-class” potential.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who suggest the Merseyside outfit are exploring the market to find Mo Salah's replacement.

Value (3.5/5): Value to skyrocket

The Frenchman only moved to Nice last summer from Real Sociedad in a deal worth £10 million and is tied to the Ligue 1 side until 2028. The INEOS-owned club are in full control of the situation and may demand a lot more than they paid for him 12 months ago if Liverpool turn their interest into an offer.

Suitability (3.5/5): Immense potential

Cho has five goals and three assists across all competitions for Nice, which is a reasonable output for a 21-year-old winger.

However, it doesn't appear very appealing when compared to Mo Salah's numbers. Liverpool's interest in him is clearly motivated by his potential, and an aggressive style of play that could make him a world-beater in the future.

Upgrade? (4/5): Slot likes his profile

It is underlined that Slot is interested in signing players who can play in all three positions in the frontline.

In that regard, Cho joining Liverpool makes almost perfect sense, as he has done the same for Nice this term. His positional awareness and close control are likely to be admired by the Liverpool boss, who could oversee a huge transformation of the Reds' attack in the summer.

Logic (4/5): Merseyside connection

Cho has interestingly already spent time in Merseyside, having played at youth level for Everton before returning to France in 2020.

The idea of playing for both Everton and Liverpool is controversial on Merseyside, but the fact it wasn't at senior level should ensure Cho is welcomed by the Anfield crowd without any animosity.

Whisper+ verdict: 18/25

Liverpool have mostly preferred to place their trust in young players rather than spend on marquee names under Michael Edwards. Considering that, a move for Cho seems to be a real possibility.
