While Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are set to do battle in the Champions League later this week, it appears both clubs are going head-to-head in the race to sign Brazilian teenager Erick Bele.
Reports in Brazil suggest the Reds and PSG are ‘keeping a close eye' on the 19-year-old playmaker, despite him yet to fully break into the Palmeiras first team.
It's believed that both European heavyweights are prepared to submit a £17 million offer for Bele in the summer, but the Brasileiro Serie A side want close to double that figure, at around £34 million.
Paying that much for a largely untested youngster would be a significant gamble for Liverpool to make, so it remains to be seen whether this deal will progress heading into the off-season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have ‘stepped up' their interest in AS Monaco talent Maghnes Akliouche, with scouts watching him in action over the weekend.
That's according to TEAMtalk, who also claim that the 24-year-old is attracting interest from several sides across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.
Akliouche appears to be high on the Red Devils' shortlist for attacking reinforcements, with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Yan Diomande also mentioned.
It isn't known how much the Ligue 1 outfit would want for the winger, though, given his emergence for France and the mounting interest, his price tag could far exceed his current £43.5 million valuation.
Newcastle among teams chasing Karim Coulibaly

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United are one of a handful of teams chasing the signature of Germany youth international Karim Coulibaly.
He claims a “big race” has emerged ahead of the transfer window re-opening in the summer, and while no one else is named, it's thought that as many as five other teams in Europe are also “very keen” alongside the Magpies.
The 18-year-old centre-back has been linked to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the past, with a £39 million asking price mooted at the time.
However, given his continued presence in Werder Bremen's starting line-up this campaign, making 22 appearances in the Bundesliga, that fee could rise come the summer.
