Latest transfer news today: Alexander Isak update as bid made for £30m Arsenal star

Read the latest transfer news today as several players could now depart the Premier League before deadline day.

We are just days away from the start of the new top-flight season, but that has not stopped transfer activity from escalating in recent days as final preparations are made for the upcoming campaign.

Manchester United, for instance, have broken the bank on a series of new signings, but are still left with a number of unwanted players. Their focus will now turn to departures as manager Ruben Amorim looks to streamline his squad.

The saga of the summer has arguably been surrounding Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, and he has now taken another step towards his exit from St James' Park – quite literally, according to emerging reports.

Here are your biggest headlines of the day…

Manchester United have reportedly offered their £64 million flop Rasmus Hojlund to German champions Bayern Munich.

The Danish striker arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta back in 2023 in a move that was initially seen as a gamble. The risk never truly paid off with the forward scoring just 26 goals across his 95 appearances for the Red Devils.

The Premier League club have focused on strengthening their squad this summer, splashing just shy of £200 million on the services of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

With a host of new names coming in, particularly from an attacking perspective, United are now focusing on shifting their unwanted players out – that not only includes Hojlund, but also the likes of Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Isak does not want to play for Newcastle again, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein. Reports also suggest that the striker has now moved out of his home in the North East.

The Swede's proposed switch to Liverpool has been one of the most dramatic transfer sagas of the summer after the Magpies rejected an initial £110 million bid from the Premier League champions.

It is thought that Isak has “no wish to reintegrate” at St James' Park as he awaits a potential second bid from Liverpool – one which could lead to a messy situation if they decide to turn down another record bid.

Eddie Howe's side are looking to get at least £150 million for their superstar striker, who has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the club – including an impressive haul of 23 Premier League goals last season.

Such funds could help the Carabao Cup holders bolster the squad before deadline day, having thus far overseen a fairly quiet transfer window.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly ‘sanctioned’ a bid for Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates.

The Turkish club are still looking to strengthen ahead of the new season and have decided to move in for the versatile star after the Gunners dropped their asking price to around £13 million.

The Athletic claim that Zinchenko is considering staying in north London for another season and seeing out the remainder of his contract.

Since joining the club in 2022 for £30 million, the Ukrainian has gone on to make 91 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals along the way.
