Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Inter chase Hojlund
Inter Milan tried to sign Rasmus Hojlund when he was at Atalanta but Manchester United‘s offer blew them out of the water. Now that United consider him a dispensable figure, Inter are prepared to make another move for the Dane.
The story comes from InterLive, which claims that there's “total agreement” at San Siro about a move for Hojlund.
Value (3/5): Inter want loan deal
The Nerazzurri believe they would be able to meet his wage demands of around £3.3million but their intention is to offer an initial loan deal with the option to buy to United. The Red Devils, meanwhile, are keen to raise funds from permanent sale this summer itself so it remains to be seen how they will react to Inter's approach.
Suitability (4/5): Ideal physicality for Italian football
It was Hojlund's pace and physicality in Serie A that led to United's interest in him. However, the 22-year-old has struggled to deal with the Premier League's physicality. At times, he has shown signs of promise but it would be best for his development to play in a less physical league.
Upgrade? (4/5): Rotation
Simone Inzaghi is blessed with Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Thuram as his striker options. As such, it is fair to assume Hojlund won't be a starter. However, Inzaghi's two-striker system should ensure plenty of minutes for the Denmark international.
Logic (4/5): Best to return to Serie A
At the age of 20, Hojlund should've never been signed with a view to becoming United's first-choice striker. It is clear the highly-rated number nine has struggled to deal with the pressure that comes with that role. A return to Serie A would allow him to rediscover his confidence in familiar surroundings.
Whisper+ verdict: 18/25
Both United and Inter would be happy with this transfer but the Italian giants may have to offer a more lucrative deal.
