Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (4/5): Romano breaks the news of Juventus' interest

After Borussia Dortmund were linked to Veiga's signature prior to the weekend, it has been revealed that Juventus are now pursuing the out-of-favour Chelsea defender. Both clubs have held talks with Chelsea.

The very reliable Fabrizio Romano is reporting this development, as the London outfit look to balance their books in January.

Value (3.5/5): All possibilities on the table

Romano hasn't detailed Chelsea's demands, so it remains unclear whether the young Portuguese would leave on loan or permanently. Still, if several clubs are in talks over a winter deal, it's clear the Blues are open to parting ways with their £12million summer signing. Dortmund have reportedly already sent their proposal.

Suitability (3.5/5): Ball-playing centre-back

Veiga is primarily a left-back, but such is his impressive versatility, he has also regularly played as a centre-back. The 21-year-old possesses incredible positional awareness and on-ball composure to play as a central defender for any team that likes to dominate possession. Thiago Motta's Juventus certainly play that way.

Upgrade? (4/5): Emergency signing

Veiga isn't a natural defender and is unlikely to be a first-choice option in that area in the long term. However, following serious injuries to Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, the Old Lady are in the market for an emergency signing. Veiga could be a reasonable option in that regard.

With left-back Andrea Cambiaso attracting interest from City, the Portugal international could also play as a left-back if that move goes through.

Logic (4/5): Right move for his development

Chelsea have picked several highly-rated prospects over the last 18 months without any clear plan for their development. Veiga, who has just seven Premier League appearances this term, is now seemingly facing the consequences of Chelsea's recklessness.

It would be best for his growth to leave Stamford Bridge and play under Motta, who has done well with young talents at both Juventus and Bologna.

Whisper+ verdict: 19/25

With both Juventus and Dortmund in talks with Chelsea, Veiga's exit appears imminent. Question marks remain over whether he'd land in Italy or Germany, but given Motta's track record with young talents, this is definitely one to watch.
