Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (2/5): Sounds fanciful from The Sun

Paris Saint-Germain have offered Randal Kolo Muani to Chelsea as part of an audacious swap deal that would see another France international, Christopher Nkunku, heading to the Parc des Princes.

This story broke in The Sun newspaper, not the most reliable source for transfer news, but Sky Sports picked it up on Monday.

Value (2/5): Nkunku valued higher

A straight swap deal between two top clubs is incredibly rare nowadays, and Chelsea might be wise to negotiate Kolo Muani plus a fee in exchange for Nkunku, who is valued at around £54 million by Transfermarkt, compared to £33 million for Kolo Muani.

Nkunku does not seem part of Enzo Maresca's plans, though, so getting his wages off their books could be good enough.

Suitability (2/5): Kolo Muani a one-trick pony

Other than a handful of matches on the wings, Kolo Muani has spent his entire career at centre-forward, lacking the versatility that Nkunku brings as a number 10 or striker.

Given that he is struggling to score goals in Ligue 1 and has notched just once in the UEFA Champions League in a PSG shirt, there is plenty of doubt as to whether he can cut it in England.

Upgrade? (2.5/5): Blues need more firepower

With Deivid Washington and Marc Guiu the only back-ups to Nicolas Jackson, Maresca could benefit from having another centre-forward in his ranks.

But given Jackson's eight goals and three assists in the league this season, his place in the starting line-up should be safe, even after Kolo Muani arrives.

Logic (1.5/5): Not a good fit all round

Kolo Muani needs to find the goalscoring form he showed at Eintracht Frankfurt which earned him a move to PSG in the first place. If he cannot find it under Luis Enrique, then a move seems the best option.

But heading to the Chelsea bench looks far from ideal for him and the Blues. Perhaps going back to Germany might bring out the best in him once again?

Whisper+ verdict: 10/25

This swap deal looks like one for Chelsea to avoid! They would be better off trying to get more out of Nkunku, who has been banging the goals in when given a chance in the UEFA Conference League.
